I just purchased my first Haydels duck. I got the big barrel cut down. This is the first Haydel call I have ever had. It sounds good to my ears. I've always used duck commander calls and had great success with them. What's y'all's opinion on the Haydels calls?

I've always loved Haydel calls. Some of my favorites are the dirty rice, carbon cutter, and red leg. They are some of the best sounding calls on the market IMO.

Honestly, even before I sold Killer Kallz, only Haydels I would use was the teal & the whistle. I just never cared for them.

They are easy calls that sound ok at a good price that's how I feel about them. My teal call stuck on me this morning a bunch but other than that its good

I still like my killer kall more than any of them. The others just can't touch the "custom cut" triple Reed rob put together for me.

Haydels and DC calls are great to learn on and can sound relatively good. But, if you're anything like me you'll get tired of the same old cadence range and lack of real control and want to upgrade. Once you master a good single reed you'll never go back. Haydels and DCs are like training wheels.

I hunted with the DR-85 for years. Would buy 4 before season because they crack easy when it gets really cold. Another issue is.................they smell like a sack of assholes when new!!!!!

Ok, so let me get this straight... they look like chit, sound like chit, and even smell like chit, yet you're buying one already knowing this???? Jacob, I now question your mentality more than ever!!!

Re: Haydels duck calls.
Why do they smell?

Its either the plastic they use, or they stick them up a fat dudes bloated ass and make him fart to tune them.

The smell comes from something they add to the plastic to keep it from cracking

^^^ And they still crack like a motha! Imagine what they would smell like if they were indestructable!

I've been using the same dr85 for 6 years. It cracked and I put a bead of superglue on the crack and it still holding. Sounds good too. I use a Riceland teal call and Riceland Speck calls and any whistle I can steal from one of my buddies

Im really suprised by this... I figured the dirty rice would of been a more popular call..

I've had Haydels, they are very hard to get sounding right if you ever clean them.

I really like my Duck Commander calls, I've got a duck picker that I tuned just like I like it and I'd put it against any other call in a meat competition.

Learned on faulk single read. Then went to a dr 85 then switched to a Single Reed and never looked back. I currently own a hobo prime meat. I love it but I think the next call I get is gonna be a daisy cutter.

You get diffrent sounds. I can make my call sound like a bwt without cutting the reed.

Post subject:  Re: Haydels duck calls.

Ive got more calls than I know what to do with... half of which I think could sound a little better... I have a echo im gonna experiement with and see what I can do.

Reeds are cheap don't be afraid to fuck them up. Soundboards are not.
