What are your rpm's trimmed out? You should be able to turn atleast a 24 probably more. There is about 1 million props you could put on it so I got a few questions What are you looking for? Top end? Hole shot? Best of both? Carry a load better? I'd look into the turbo props, or a mercury bravo1 |

I'd try either the 23p yamaha pro xl or a 23p tempest plus. Also from what I've read Bill Kenner has done extensive prop testing with different motors and it probably wouldn't hurt to contact Blackjack directly to see what they reccommend. |

Mercury props are some of the best. The reason I said to try the bravo is because all the fast bay boats around here use it. I would call Eric at scb or call the guys at full throttle boat works, they are the one of the biggest if not the biggest dealer of mercury racing and know alot about props and they use alot of sho's. they test props every day and have probably tested props on a boat set up just like yours! Trust me on this they make 90mph bay boats |

Look up the people I told you about. They will let you try props before you buy them. And I'm almost 100% positive I've seen them do a review on a black jack. |

Start with a 21 and go up. My 150 can turn a 21 4 blade so I'm sure your 300 can do alot better. And the props scb are using are called turbo props |

Post subject: | Re: Vmax SHO... |
i thought full throttle had the turbo props...SCB has an article on mercury's website for doing testing of the new promax prop..and from all what i have seen they mostly run bravo Ixs's...If I was you I would get with a reputable prop shop and get their opinion on a starting point to swap to the bravo prop..you have only 2 degrees of pitch to work up and down...your hull will lift more with a bravo I so its hard to tell how it will react..im no expert so I would know what to tell you. http://www.mercuryracing.com/blog/pro-max-prop/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I suggest you contact Mark Croxton at http://marksprops.com/ He is unbelievable on props and has excellent service. I sent my Tempest plus to him and he sent it back with a gain in top end and bottom end. Just give him a call and he will be glad to talk to you. |

It hit 70mph @6100rpm.....Looking at the numbers, he thinks if i sacrafice some bottom end, i can get ~73mph with a higher pitch prop... |

FD,,,I would love to try a "fast 3 blade"....I think i can get the boat into the low 70's pretty easy.. Tgunn,,,,this whole prop game for me started when a friend of mine that runs a legend 250xs combo told me to try a Bravo1!! He told me he tried 5 different props and it was the fastest by 4mph.... So i called a Mercury racing dealer,,these guys are pretty much mercury to the bone! They recomended the OT4. He said on pretty much all boats they tried it on, it blew away the bravo1.... I have a friend with a 24yellowfin that just bought a Bravo1 Fs like you are talking about. He was running a rev4 so when he gets back from Destin, we will see how it does compared to the Rev4 on his boat, and i may try it also... I can tell you,,this OT4 has a huge amount of lift!!! It has like 28deg of rake built in!!!! Whats cool about the Turbo props is they perform great, and are much much thicker then the merc props, and are about 100 dollars cheaper... I may see if baggy can work some majic on this one...It was chilly friday morn, but i was still able to get 6200rpms... For the record,,,i had a 250 etec,,,and this engine will destroy it!!! The power is unreal....Also,,it had a noticable differnce after i got some hrs on it....Not sure if they are "detuned for breakin" but def felt a diff... |

Turbo/Stiletto (PPI) makes great props and they are waaaaay underrated. Tough to beat this place for prices: http://www.boatownersworld.com/Props/turbo/turbo.htm My old Redfisher 18 really liked the Turbo I and that's where I would get them from. PS, not saying the SHO didn't have lots of power. That's why we were puzzled by the rpm issue on the bigger boats. |

I personally don't like the bravo on a bay boat. 1 good mud flat, oyster reef or sand bar and that prop is done. It's a good prop, but it's really really thin. The fury outdid a bravo, by far, a tempest, and a laser on my bass boat. They r really thick too. If u do go with a bravo, at least baggy is near u. Not many people can fix em. |

Yeah I get that. I don't have a bullet Allison gambler or stroker and I'm not doing 80+. I have a z8 with a 225pro xs turning a 25 fury. I can drive with 1 finger at 75. I could use a Lil more hole shot tho, if both live wells r full of water and a full tank of gas it hesitates getting on step. I could probably take the plugs on the wheel completely out, but they r just reduced right now. The tank is like 48-52 gallons so I just fill it up to half way and it doesn't seem to be an issue |
