Yeah she said I'll just go buy a new one me. So I guess I'll have to take her pic and go to home depot and say do not sell ladders to this woman. Lol. But she is a go getter. She mowed grass till last year and weed eated. Now she just smokes and works in her flower beds and spreads mulch in em. |

My 86 year old grandpa fell out his boat while throwing his cast net for bait 2 weeks ago. My uncle threatened to take the boat and my grandpa told him that if he did that he'd get me to kick his ass and bring his boat back. Grandpa did agree to get a shorter net so he didn't have to be on the front deck to throw it. Ever since I got my gator tail last month he's been talking about going frogging in June and I cant wait! |

My grandfather ran hoop nets and fished all his life. Up until he passed away at 80. I would go with him on occasion and when I would get home I would be so worn out and deflated. He always told my dad that the day he couldn't be on the water would be the day to start digging a hole in the ground. He caught a bad staph infection and had minimal chances to survive, and if he would have he woulda been in bed. So my father aunts and uncles had to make a decision. After his passing my dad found all of his fish dock tickets. The last year he was alive he caught and sold 55,000 pounds of catfish at 80 years old. The older generation worked and worked hard. |

Man that is awesome. I hope my grandmaw lives many more years. She raised me after my dad died so I consider her my mom. She has smoked for 60 years and is better health than anyone in the family. No one will get her a carton so she calls me and I'll go get em. She can drive but not that good but it don't stop her. |

My grandpa was a strong man. He worked harder than anyone I knew. And would give the shirt off his back to anyone. It's a shame he had to go that soon. If it weren't for that infection because he refused to go to the doctor when he started feeling bad, I think he would have had at least another 15 years. I miss him a lot. |

Thats the same thing my grandpa says. My uncle has been trying to get my grandpa to give up his boat for years now and asks him what will happen uf he has a heart attack or some other emergency while he's in the boat. My grandpas answer is always the same, that then I'll die doing what I love to do. |

Enjoy all these moments yall talk about. My Grandma was pretty much my best friend for years. One day I had her and the next day she was gone. She actually called me about 2 minutes before she had a Massive Heart Attach and died and I didnt answer cause I had friends over to the house and was showing them my remodeling project. Later that day after she had been taken away I had a minute to check my voice mail and there actually was her dying cry for help recorded on my phone. That haunted me and felt guilty for along time. Even though I couldnt have helped her I could have at least talked to her one more time.......................... |

naj and gator, those are hard stories. I hope I am never confronted with something like that. Grandparents are wonderful people and I miss mine every day. 3 of the 4 are still alive but I live 10 hrs away, so I don't get to see them very often. |

I don't want to turn this into a hard luck story thread but about 18 years ago I got in a big old fight with my dad. Went to work for my hitch on the boat and 4 days later got a call from our big boss late one evening on the boat. I knew something was wrong. Dad took his head off with a 10 gauge Browning under the chin. It didn't hurt me as much as the rest of the family because I had considered my dad dead a couple years earlier when he was diagnosed with Major depression. He just wasn't the same man that raised me after that. A few years after the incident me and my 3 siblings all talked and we all had been carrying some guilt for small things and thought we were responsible. My fight, 11 yo sister didnt kiss him before she left to school cause she said he had bad morning breath and I don't remember the others. But none of us was responsible. He was just a really sick man. Cherish every moment guys and don't sweat the small stuff that your loved ones do to piss you off. It means nothing in the big scheme of things. |

Man naj that is hard man and I'm sorry for your loss. Since my dad died I don't go to bed mad no more at the ones I love. You never know when it is you time. Life is too short to be mad at some one you love. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
