They are drawn to me. Isthis a mottled duck? We dont see any where i live and i guess ive never seen one.Grunts like a mallard drake. |

^^^ Correct, spring plumage mallard. Mottled duck & black duck don't have white on speculum, just black. |

Nope that's a regular hen mallard. A mottled duck has one white band and a black duck has no white bars on their wing. |

I shot a mallard/black duck hybrid this past season that looked similar to this but didn have the two white bars on the speculum and was green on top of head and across its eyes |

Looks just like an NZ mallard hen, we'll i'd give it a round or 2 on that ID. Ours are crossed up with grey duck and it give them a dark colourings and beak like that. |
