image.jpg Should I try to install backing pieces and bend 1/4 inch ply over the curve opening and fill edges with bondo. Or do I install 3 or 4 large blocks of wood approximating the radius, sand it down to conform to radius then fill gaps? Any other suggestions appreciated. |

Plywood will be quicker but won't last long,I'd fill with wood blocks and sand down.paint the bottom, tops, and inside edges before you install the blocks(depending on what type of wood you are using) |

No termites. Rot from roof drip and exposure. |

Grand pappy Pierre would know what to do. Have a seance and see what he says to do. Replace it with an aluminum, or metal inner column and face it with matching wood on the outside. |

Cut the whole column off square at the bottom and create new base. You could build something square (Same size or slightly smaller than existing base) out of treated lumber that wouldn't rot. You could use a concrete base and wrap it with wood as well. |
