Those bring back a few memories. I haven't hunted there since the mid-90s. Is it really not like that anymore?

Re: The Wax before 90% of you
Yeah...I heard there were too many people showing off pictures of all the mallards they were killing down there that brought so much attention to the place. LOL
I occasionally duck hunted Main Delta years ago and always had great success when I went there. But, I spent more time bowhunting there than I did duck hunting.
Now, if there was a DC category for bow hunters, they were on the Main Delta back then!

Louisiana sportsman articles are mostly to blame in my opinion. When the articles started appearing so did the people.

Re: The Wax before 90% of you
It's like every single year the amount of people hunting down there increases probably by 1/3 if not more. To be honest, you can probably blame most of it on mud motors. Well, not really mud motors. More like the IQ of people who buy mud motors nowadays is decreasing drastically. A buddy of mine's been hunting down there for I guess 15 years or so, he took his nephew on the youth hunt a couple weekends ago. He said the entire time he was hunting all he heard and saw was surface drives. He said one would come along, run back up in a pocket, jump the birds out, then go to the next pocket and do the same thing. Then, 10 minutes later, another one would come along...and do exactly the same thing as the last dickhead. Then, he's sitting there in his blind and the tide is rock bottom, so right out front the blind is a big sand bar. Some dipshit in a gator tail rig comes rolling across the pocket...and hits the sandbar full speed like it was a fucking mud flat!! He said the guy sat there beached for the last 2 hours of his hunt, and he and his nephew picked up decoys and left while the dipshits were still stuck. People like that is what is wrong with that place, and why it'll never really be good again. Exhibit A: dipshit on sandbar

I wish I knew how many miles I walked in the wax with a sac of decoys on my back. Those days would make you really proud of what you killed. Limit or not.

They should ban all mud motors for duck hunting. Make it a Lil work, that would thin out the tennis shoe Crüe

Mallards stay hung up in Arkansas on DU property and don't make it down to Terrebonne and St. Mary like they used to.

Re: The Wax before 90% of you
I dont really think duck dynasty is too blame. I think its a combination of a few things. Facebook...ppl have good hunts and want to brag and plaster limits all ovr their page. Most times it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out the areas they hunt. Noob hunters...they make a few hunts and get lucky. They dont realize the effort that limits normally require and run their mouth sharing everything they know about where ducks are. And some folks are just stupid and bump their gums too much. Duck hunting for some reason is the IN thing. Ill for one be glad when this fad passes and all these yahoos move on to something else.

Re: The Wax before 90% of you
It was loaded with mallards last year. Hard to kill them though, they got there early and wised up quick. Most I've seen in a while out there. And north la hunter, it's not really mostly grays, every single kind of duck you could possibly kill in louisiana, you can find out there. And some stragglers that shouldn't be there. Mallards pintails grays wigeons green wings blue wings spooners canvasbacks redheads dosgris mottleds woodies buffleheads ruddys ring necks common mergansers snows specks...you name it. Last few years, the good ducks are becoming few and far between though. It almost isn't worth the aggravation to deal with it anymore. I sure the fuk wouldn't fool with it if I only could hunt on weekends, that's a fact.

Re: The Wax before 90% of you
You just have to keep your mouth shut about where your huntin to keep some people off of you.
And there's nothing you can do about the newbies. You just have to think in the back of your mind you were a newbie at one time. But still doesn't excuse the lack of sense or manner especially on public land. Most of the people weed out later on in the season which is when I kill most of my birds.

Re: The Wax before 90% of you
They use to weed out. As of last year they never stop coming. Remember these guys go out their and shoot each a couple boxes of shells and never kill because they shooting at them 1/4 mile away. But to them they are shooting so that is what they call duck hunting

Yep it USED to be good. All I've ever hunted was the river side. Couldn't imagine the wax.

the only way to get the delta back to what it was is to ban all air cooled motors
