Re: How engage 4x4 in old gmc
Put truck in neutral and pull 4x4 shifter back until shifter stops that should be 4 high, pull over to the right and back all the way and that should be 4 low. The N is for neutral on the transfer case and it doesn't matter what gear your transmission is in if you put the transfer case in neutral it will not pull at all

I knew what the N was for and the 4L but by the 4 high it has a dot on both sides so I wasant sure and you gota get out and lock the hubs and thanx it'll be hard to test it cause it has some 37 boggers on it only place ima spin thoes to test it is in some serious mud

movement of shifter that allows you to select gears - thru shift gate. do you have manual hubs, they seemed to work best in these

Re: How engage 4x4 in old gmc
And you gota back up and go forward for it to engage it ?? my old 95 was like that so I'm Sure this one is like that but this one don't have a light or anything to show you it's in 4x4 so it's all just a guess i know you don't wanna be in it when it goes to kick in
