 Re: Truck caps
A SUV would be hard to put a water hose in and clean it out. Thinking of putting a slide out for all my bowfishing equipment. It's a peter to to take out and put back in every trip.

 Re: Truck caps
I've been tossing that idea around for a couple of years, but damn they expensive and no way I'd have a cap without a slide.

 Re: Truck caps
I hear ya, the market ones are expensive but they'll hold lots of weight without legs. I suppose if you used some channel and good roller bearings, you could make something that would work fine. Similar to a drawer but on a bigger scale. And make it off the bed enough to be able to wash it out underneath for deer and such. It would be nice to carry more stuff and not worry about things walking off so easily.

 Re: Truck caps
I helped build a "drawer" type system for my buddy's work truck. He took 3 2x8 on edge and covered it with ply wood for a deck. Underneath he used a 1x1 for a rail and built his drawers, and then waxed the rails. For support he took the legs off a cafeteria style table and used them. I know it's not comparable to the $1000 plus metal systems out there, but it works great for what it is, and he's got less than 100$ in it. For the difference in cost it may be worth a try, especially if you're going to use it for dead animals and wet dogs.

 Re: Truck caps
I love my ARE topper. I highly recommend wing doors on each side so you can grab stuff out of the front without crawling in. I have a hinged topper window next to my back glass so I can wash both windows (topper and truck glass). I have the inside of my topper carpeted which prevents condensation when you start to get cold, I like it but not sure if you'd need it.
I'll never own another pickup without one.
