If taken care of stainless will out last aluminum. But if your not using them on a daily basis they will last years. Most of the corrosion on aluminum pots is right at the water line and it will pit up and rot through. If you have the extra $$$ go with a stainless. And check the thickness of the bottom on the stainless. If its thin like a stock pot it will burn on the bottom. Sent from my beeper |

dunno what the benefits of going stainless. check these out, its a company in Madisonville. i purchased their 120 and it works just as advertised. comes to a boil in almost half the time as a traditional one and I turn down the burner low once the water starts rolling and it keeps the heat. I also bought a couple for friends as wedding presents and they love em. |

As long as you don't let the water sit longer than a day or so after boiling you shouldn't have a problem with aluminum. |

My dad made a stainless pot, aluminum strainer and burner about 30 years ago. I have it now and my kids will have it when I'm gone. The pot is heavy though. I wish I knew how many boils went through the pot over the years. |

Having a sentimental stainless pot, I'd tell you to get aluminum. The only advantage is that it's easy to clean and will last forever. Guys who have the rocket pot swear by them. |
