So me and the pops are deciding to look into a bowfishing rig to start our charters. What you guys think? Center console twin surface drive or air boat with chevy 496 big block? Affliction air boats out of Tallahassee, FL said they could rig me up with a 20x8 hull with the 496, bowfishing ready for $50,000 and some change. Haven't looked into twin SDs but at the Louisiana Sportsman Show, the boys from gator tail had a twin GTR rig setup for bowfishing for $45,000.... What yall think? |

If I was chartering a trip, I would rather listen to mm vs a loud ass airboat. Good luck either way. |

More options wit gtr rig. A big ass airboat like that will limit u big time. |

No doubt the twins will be better on gas than the 496. We have a 350 on ours and that sob drinks it pretty quick. Thinking of sending that thing down the road but it's too damn fun to run on the lakes late ice. |

Its just hard for me to imagine spending 25k dollars on a boat and trailer. Crazy having 15k in accessories. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk |

I agree. You could rig it for half the price., but that would require some work. Most people these days rather pay than to work. |

Air boats have some advantages over SD and SD have advantages over an air boat. For me the dual SD's had more advantages. As for fuel I can run several trips on 20 gallons and I have seen airboats suck 40-60 gallons in one night. |

^^^ very true and seems to be getting worse. For them to not allow air boats in the us open tournament this year could open the door for more air boat banning. |

If you decide to go airboat look into some other options as well like diamondback, gto, or hammet airboats. They are all very reputable builders that can lead you in the right direction. Not to mention they do great work. |

Something I have seen in airboats here in Florida is you can drive over fish and not spook them near as bad as a outboard does. Been hunting and fishing off airboats for a long time. It will work just fine as long as you are allowed to use them where you want to fish. Stay away from aircraft motors due to the fact av gas is expensive. A well built gear box car motor will push a big hull loaded nicely. |

You could always go with dual SDs and build a small fan setup for it. The money you save going with SDs could be used for the fan setup. But if you do that, you might as well just go with an outboard and a fan. In my opinion, a fan is the best way to fish because you don't disturb the water, but an airboat is too loud and sucks too much fuel. A small fan setup with an outboard is the best of both worlds. You can still haul ass to your spot and then run shallow using the fan to push you. |

Duals are not cheap funny to watch peoples face when I price my rig. Over 25k just hanging on the rear with stage ones and hydrolic jack plates and steering. |

A slick front steer set up like an airboat would be the ticket. I'm fixing to start experimenting with it soon. |

Its no where near what I want. Just a simple push pull steering stick with a throttle is all I want. I have seen nates set up takes up to much room for me |

I believe it was DDM that had a gate opener on a gtr for steering while fishing alone. |
