Just got my Minn Kota Edge #55 trolling motor. Wanting to get some ideas on where others have mounted their batteries. I thought about up front but don't wanna take up dry storage, thought about underneath front deck, but might eventually put another tank and or speakers there, thought about underneath hunt deck in the battery box (minus the lid of course so it will fit) then thought what the hell I already have one battery taking up floor space what's one more. Just looking for ideas. |

I have two In the back and gas up front in an 18x48. It seems to be ok. |

Put mine under the front deck. Preferrably you want the shortest battery cable runs as possible |

Bass boats have them in the back. Just use #6 wire. |

Put as much weight as possible towards the front. Helps get rid of some of the torque steer. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk |

I have a 24v tm and have both batteries under the front deck plus a 9 gallon tank with room to spare |

I have both batteries in the back, 12gallon fuel tank under hunt deck along with anchor, tools and such. The load is pretty even out IMO.. |

Thanks guys. I think I may run it to the back and order some 6 gauge wire. I have an idea floating around in my head to use the space under the front deck for a couple of speakers on the sides and move my tank to the middle. |

Mount the trolling motor, then throw the battery in the boat and grab your GPS. Launch boat and turn on GPS. Go for a ride and move the battery around to the locations you might want to place it and double check GPS speeds to see which placement works best to get optimal performance out of your rig. |

That's a good idea as well. Anyone else out there running a #55 minn kota edge? If so what kind of battery life are you averaging on a deep cycle? |

Your batteries will last much longer if charged after every trip. Read up on deep cycle batteries on the net. |

I have a minnkota 64 or something like that 24v I use ac Delco M28 or M30 and they will push my boat all weekend no problem. I charge em up when I put it in the shed and their on their 3rd year. My dad had the same type of battery last 7 in his bass boat. He uses his boat about 4 times a week during summer sent from the marsh |

I've got a old piece of shit from wally it was given to me with my 1st boat it was under 2 feet of ice. Chiped it out and charged it. Dam thing is great battery. I always charge it when i get home it will run around 7-8 hours with a 40lb minn. |
