MBRP hands down. Best fit, great quality and easy to install. Hardest part of the install is getting the stock downpipe to break loose from the turbo. 5" isn't a huge need unless you plan on making some serious power. A full 4" system (4" downpipe and 4" tail section) is all that's really needed. Th biggest advantage of an aftermarket exhaust is that you get a mandrel bent downpipe. This means that the pipe stays a full circle as it makes its turns. The stock downpipe is crushed as it's bent leaving kinks which in turn is restrictions. This is what people mean by let it breathe. Are you running any programmer and/or intake system?

Have you considered duals? The MBRP dual kit is some sweet. If you need a place to buy from check out www.itpdiesel.com. Dennis is a great guy who knows his stuff when it comes to Ford diesels.

I'm runnin MBRP on my 06' 6.0 and love it.... Whistles like a jet engine at idle and is real deep when you wanna roll some smoke! 4" turbo back to 5" single tip. Check this guy out from Georgia that has his own company and only deals with powerstrokes. This is only one of many of his very informative videos, but this is strictly related to what your trying to accomplish.

Post Re: Diesel Exhaust
There's a few things I don't agree with this video. The biggest one is the fact that he said the pyrometer (EGT or Exhaust Gas Temp) is to be installed just after the turbo. A post turbo reading is lower as the gas temp drops as it passes through the turbo. Granted you can set your temp limit to 1000°F instead of 1300°F as you would for a pre-turbo reading, but there is no constant number in knowing how much the temp is changing as it passes through the turbo.

Not saying he doesn't know what he's talking about, but just saying there's some thing I don't agree with.

Yeah well what you gonna do, hes leading you in the right direction to save your truck and not blow the SOB up.... I have my EGT probe bolted in my exhaust manifold on the driver side.

Well its funny that you mentioned this. I own a 97 F250PSD 7.3. I recently did the DIY intake and on friday the Fedex man delivered my new 4" turbo back Farmboy Diesel straight pipe. By 3pm I was whistling around on the backroads. Seems to be more performance. I thinking on a chip right now. I need new tires before I get the chip.

Jody Tipton at http://www.dptuner.com

Tony Wildman at http://www.totaldieselperformance.com

Can't go wrong with either of them and get a flip chip over a programmer. You can order programmers from DP Tuner with Jody's tunes on it if you aren't wanting a chip itself.

Chips are easy to install, just remove the computer from the driverside fenderwell, remove the back plug, take some acetone on a q-tip and scrap the epoxy off the contacts and insert the chip. Mount the knob on the dash and your ready to go. Get you a set of gauges though and mount your pyro sensor pre-turbo. 8-) 8-) 8-)

x2 on Jody Tipton's DP Tuner for da 7.3's... dat's what I run.

Tymar intake, DP Tuner (stock, high idle, 60hp tow safe, 80hp econ., 120 race), MBRP 4" turbo back exhaust, 3 pillar ISSPRO gauges (tranny temp, boost psi, pre-turbo EGT), Monsterbox Tranny... along with a few other delete mods. and an A/C mod. 245,000 and falling apart at da seams.

Before long y'all will prolly see me in an '06 or '07 Dodge with a 5.9C in it.

After my two daughters get out of college I am going to treat myself to a new Duramax as their graduation present. I got about five more years of the PSD. Ol Blackie is a good truck and she has been very good to me. The next five years she will have a new exhaust, intake and a chip[most likely a TW chip] and some new tires. I might even get the tranny done sometime next year. Right now she is getting the maintenance treatment to keep her running strong. Who knows after five more years she may get another five depending on my daughters college tab

For the tranny, bring your truck over to Brian at BTS (Brian's Truck Shop) and get him to do your tranny work.

if I had it all to do over again I would have done a BTS tranny.... but it's hard to schedule an appt. 6 months out and spend dat kinda money when ur tranny's fine... and when ur tranny blows, who has time to wait a few months to get it fixed? Not me for damn sure.

Just blew my 3rd transmission about 6 wks. ago.... pulled it, tore it down, the bearing had went out on the forward drum and then blew all the seals. Clutch packs were good as new. New bearing, seals, and new billet torque convertor while I had it apart, then threw da mofo back in da truck. Too far along to put a BTS tranny now.
