Criminology. Lesbians studies may have been a better field. I like lesbians in film. But probably just as useless as a criminology degree unless you like a low paying high risk job.
Now I'm a truck driver with a college education! Soon to be changing job titles into project management for a commercial roofing company. Waiting for a call back with an offer currently.

It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

I believe I read somewhere that the total production surplus is less than a million bbls per day. It was around 15 at the end of 2014, so the bottom is near and it will start to rebound. HOPEFULLY people start to expand slowly and responsibly, and Aramco doesn't lean on the taps and plunge us 5 mmbbls/day back into the shitter again.

Yall operators ever considered LNG ???? There making big money even low as oil prices are ( 18 mil a ship ( each ship takes 12 hours to fill ) If oil jumps up LNG will make even more---- export ( 27 mil a ship at 40$ a barrel ).

With how low international gas prices are, the added handling, compression, and shipping costs have killed the LNG business. Overseas prices are only ~$4.50/MMBTU.

It was right at $2/MMBtu this morning... The gas trend generally follows the oil trend somewhat. LNG isn't any different.

For the people tha think low oil prices don't affect them if they are not in the oil patch. If you actually save money and have some type of 401k or IRA you should check the correlation between oil prices and the stock market since Jan. 1st. Then look at your investments and see the decline over this period. The big oil companies make up a large part of the market and when they fall hard the DOW does also. If your young it's not that big of a deal but for your parents that are in retirement age it hurts bad.

So whether your in the patch or not you should hope for a stable price around the 60-70$ per bbl range.

Yet again, more of the "if I'm suffering you will too" thought process. My 401k and other retirement investments continue to improve. Oil dropping in price like it has does not doom the economic futures of the rest of us. Yeah, sure, it doesn't just stop at the oil workers, but the local small farmer that doesn't make millions in govt subsidies now has lower operating costs, so he can pocket more for when oil jumps back up.
I'll never convince yall this isn't as terrible for the rest of us that yall claim it to be, but historically, it's a lot harder for the rest of us to get jobs when yall are booming and everything costs more, which means the shoe has just swapped feet for now. Doesn't feel good to have to cross your fingers hoping your job isn't next, does it. Welcome to every other field that requires oil to operate, and had to cut jobs because the cost was so high.

Here's what a farmer can buy even with high oil prices. Imagine he'll be upgrading that huge RV with the lower gas prices.

Post Re: Oil Prices
Just figured it up and with all the traveling I did this last year with tournaments, I saved well over 3 grand just in gas alone figuring it off of an old average of 3.50 a gallon, and now where it's around 2 dollars. I'm happy with it for now and it's saving me a hell of a lot of money that I can spend other places. But I definitely wouldn't mind it coming up a little because I understand most are struggling with this.

Also, with the lower gas prices the increase in our tournament fields have doubled and tripled because more people can afford to go fishing. It was hard to drive 5 states away and drop a grand in just had, pay for hotels, all when you've got a mortgage back home, wife, kids, truck note, and the 50,000 dollar boat note. It's freeing up a lot of room for people so you can't say that everyone is hurting.

The best thing about the oil prices being so low....

It's dragging all of the energy sector stocks down....even though some of those companies are not being impacted....makes for some great buys out there right now if you have the spare coin.

I was hoping to post something very enlightening in this thread, but some of you have already hit the nail on the head. It's a supply and demand thing and the Arabs know their break even cost is much lower than ours. Once they found out that the US can be energy independent they were hell bent on changing that. By keeping the supply up they can keep the prices artificially low. Pretty simple 8th grade econ stuff...

Jakehawk9, you have to subtract your contributions to get the real rate of return in your 401k. Unless you're able to short oil or you own some precious metal fund I don't think that math is correct. If it is, please PM me what you're using. I manage over $200mm, $50mm+ in 401ks and nothing has that kind of performance since Jan 1, lol.

Bringing this back to life. Things have been tough. But we still hanging in there.
What are yall opinions on what will happen with the price of oil?
Work all over is picking up, besides offshore drilling. We need higher prices to continue much longer.

We've seen a real nice gain in new contracts since Jan 1 in my part of the world. We've also hit some of our old established customers up to start increasing their rates back in the direction of where they were pre-fallout. Even had one major player come to us and offer to pay us what they used to. Odd, but a nice sign of the current state of affairs. For all those wondering, I work in the gas compression business.

We haven't had any of our pay cuts back, but 1 year ago, I could look outside from the rig, and not see anything for miles.
Now, there are rigs popping back up around us, drill ships getting contracts and people going back to work. I just hope it keeps on getting better, we need a good recovery.

Rig count right now is double what it was last year at this time. I think we are somewhere around 720'ish and climbing. Oil is going to stabilize in that $50-$55 range for a while.

I remember the oil crisis of the 70s. Jimmie Carter (D) was president. Oil companies were slowing or stopping wells because of the price. It was said that it is cheaper to store in the ground than in a tank. Some say it was to save our reserves and use more of the Middle East reserves. It took decades for the oil business to fully recover then along came that id10t the democrats wanted(Obama) and it only took him a few short years to undo the whole thing. Trump maybe an asshole but he will if the media, democrats, and rhinos let him get jobs back and get us back on top.

Glad to see the Oil coming back! Drill it, Frack it, and help starve those muslim id10ts!!
