Post subject:  Honeymoon suggestions

I figured you guys might be able to help me with my honeymoon. I've never been out of the country. I am wanting to go all inclusive so I don't have to worry about food and drink costs, mostly drink costs  . She wants clear water. Looking to spend under 5k.

Anyone have good/bad experiences on these type of trips?

Thanks!

For clear water head to eastern Mexico if that's where you are thinking. We found trips to Mexico to be more affordable. We did our flights from MN and an all inclusive for 5 nights for under 3k. We went to puerto Vallarta and it was nice, but the water isn't the same as the eastern coast I guess.

Check out of Riviera Maya, Mexico. Half way between Playa Del Carmen and Cancun. Went there for our honeymoon 3 years ago and then went back this past summer. We got a steal during our honeymoon at a new resort that had only been open for a couple of months and is now on of the top resorts down there. Went down this past summer for a week. Swim-up suite and airfare was 3k. Bring you some dollar bills and tip and you will be treated like a king. Be sure to check out what night life the places offer. Most have similar things but it is a blast going to shows.

On a side note, make sure to bring dress clothes. Most of these places have a dress code like closed shoes and button downs. Be a waste to not get to eat at some of the restaurants because of such. You take a charter to most places around there. Never had any problems the 3 times I've been down there. Probably safer there than most US cities honestly.

We went to Punta Cana and stayed at the majestic elegance. 6days 7 nights was 3K and was all inclusive.(even included air fair) Nothing negative about the trip, they treat you like royalty and Tipping is not allowed. Even has a bar bulit into the pool so you dont have to get out or wait on a waitress. (the pool runs the full length of the resort. When we got there, there was a banner on our door that said happy honeymoon. And while checking in, they brought us drinks. Everynight they have shows, comedy acts, kareoke. And during the day they have all kinds of stuff: volleyball, bikini contest, dance offs (I won the micheal jackson dance off & And my wife and I won the couples oldies swing dance off. We hated to leave and we meet ppl that we still talk to now. Look it up, Its well worth it.

^ if you can arrange it, try to island jump a little. some of the smaller islands are great.

Two thing id recommend doing while there:

1.http://www.bluehawaiian.com/kauai/tours/

2. http://www.mountainriders.com/maui_sunrise_bike_tours/

of all the beach/island places I've visited, hawaii is my favorite.

Give Dguidry a small deposit on a further possible divorce and he might let you use his camp for free and have extra money for swamp tour.

Here's an out of the country with clear water idea. Niagara Falls ! It's an amazing site that never gets old. We stayed in a suite at the embassy suites hotel with a falls view room with a hot tub ( how my daughter came about ) lol. The Food was amazing at the restraints around town. It's great during the winter or summer. Prolly not what your looking for but just something out of the box. We loved it ! Good luck on your search. It won't matter where you decide to go your honeymoon will be special. Lol prolly won't leave the room much anyway lol !

Check out St. Lucia, we stayed at one of the sandals resorts there and had a awesome time. With air fair and the room for 6 days it was a little more than what your wanting to spend but I also rented a penthouse there, fuk that. Get the cheapest room you can, you won't be in it much at all and you will be to hammered to care what it looks like. Plus we did a spa package for her, speed boat tour, volcano excursion, horse back riding on the beach, rented jet skis, and went snorkeling between the peton mountains which was very cool.

We went to st Lucia too and stayed at sandals halacion (sp). While it was an awesome resort, the water where we stayed wasn't that pretty. If you're in it for the water clarity, I vote Bahamas.

If you decide on riviera maya check out the secrets silver sands. I have been to the area many times and this resort is my favorite by far. Also spring for the poolside suite. May not seem like a big deal but no stairs when you are wasted is very nice, so is 24hr room service.

Check out VRBO. My wife and I spent our 25th anniversary in Hawaii at a vacation rental by owner home on the beach. We had a spectacular time. It was nice to walk out the door and fifty feet be in the surf. We stayed 10 days.

We did the Sandals in Jamaica (Montego Bay). It was fun. Jamaica is a shit hole and all the excursions were a long ride away. My wife and I said we would not do Jamaica again... rather St. Lucia or Bahamas Sandals. Seeing how the Bahamas is just a 57 mile boat ride from my buddies dock St. Lucia would be my first vote. A friend of my dad's takes his wife on a tropical trip every year. He said Bermuda and Virgin Islands are his favorites.
