Best I've seen is the pole base mount that fits the spud pole sockets. |

I'm having mine built into the bow deck. Just what I prefer. Draw back is you can't move it around the boat. |

You can just keep it in a tool bag and toss it in the boat |

Thanks men. I like the spud idea. How and where do you wire it? Straight to the battery? |

I have a anderson connector off my starting battery in the back and also one off of my trolling motor battery up front. |

I originally wanted recessed but due to water being able to get in the bow that way and the more versatility of a spud pole mount that's what I decided on. That and I can make the same mount and wiring on my jeep and only need to own one winch. Are you all running steel cable or synthetic on your winches? |

I'm cheap I'm using the steel cable until its junk then getting synthetic. My solenoid is mounted on my plate with the winch. I didn't get the wireless remote so i just got a 2 flat connector and plug in my rocker switch when i need it. Makes the set up less cluttered. |

Im sure first bound up birds nest i get pissed enought to go buy some. Does synthetic rope get bound up like cable at all? I'm an electrician and thought about using some 10000 lb mule rope that shits strong and i could get alot more on a drum. |

Honestly haven't had to use my winch, but it's not like hard cable at all. Don't see it getting all bound up and shit like steel cable does. FYI: http://www.promarkoffroad.com/promark-b ... -rope.html And you can probably find it cheaper if you shop around.. |

I got a coupon for a 2500lb Badlands winch (Harbor Freight)... for $59 I got two ![]() Im having my boat built with a winch mount on the front but I like the "chain & shackle" method for certain stuff. Some coated cable with eyes in each end works well in place of the chain too. |
I just use the 2000 lb super winch from F&F seeing as I don't have to drag the hull very far or over levies.
This sucker? http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/ ... _200365241
Yes, but Farm and Fleet has them on sale every so often for $59. |
