 Regional foods and festivities
What's a food that's regional/seasonal to where you live that you look forward to? We are in the middle of maple syrup season here in Minnesota. April/May is the smelt run on the Great Lakes, which means smelt fries. End of July is the beginning of the sweet corn harvest. Fall apples are always great here as well.

 Re: Regional foods and festivities
Only thing that's really regional around here is the peaches and they last all summer long.

We have a scrapple apple festival in the fall. Nothing better than a scrapple sandwich with grape jelly.

Wild garlic or leeks. Love them pickled. Another good eat is the good old poutine, cheeze curds fries, gravy only thing good the French ever made.

 Re: Regional foods and festivities
Lets say we were all standing around a campfire having this very same conversation. Mr Tinman brings up the pickled leeks. When he turns away to get him a cold Fresca soda I would wink at you guys and say 'watch this'. When Mr. Tinman returns with his Fresca I would say 'Hey Mr Tinman why don't you show us your wild leek patch'. His reaction would be similar to someone revealing his marijuana patch. Them pickled leeks are the best of the best. Canuck has some fine eating pickled leeks if I might say.
