Two injured when boat they were building blew up, said the news report. One seriously injured. Anyone know what happened?

Sent to me by a friend:

He was welding and something happened with some foam apparently. Wasn't a fire explosion from what I heard. Just like the foam ran out of space to expand or something. It didn't rip the aluminum at a seam. It ripped open in the middle of a sheet and threw him against the center console.

Broke his legs an arm his ankles some ribs and his heels are like ground meat they said. He was standing on top of the piece of metal that blew up.

Really sorry to hear this.

This is yet another reason not to put foam in your boat.

A fully seal welded double bottom that is pressure tested is all that's needed.

I would have never thought something like this would happen.
