One of my close friends caught a huge snapping turtle a wile back and just posted the picture of his cusin cutting the head off to clean it on facebook a few days ago. They are getting threatening phone calls. People think its a 100 year old tortuous that was killed illegally. Ignorant mother fukers out there who have nothing better to do than talk shit. They dont give 2 shits about real world problems. The turtle was cleaned and nothing was thrown away.

Not to burst your bubble. I am an avid outdoorsman and I hunt and fish myself. Your cousin drew the attention to himself. I am not against posting picks of your harvest on the internet. Think about the pic that is posted? (but don't agree with people threatening him). A snapping turtle with his head cut and your cousin with a electric saw in the background. As an outdoorsman I believe pictures like this give us a bad image. He took life of this turtle( which doesn't bother me) but show the animal you harvest a little respect and maybe "tree huggers" wouldn't see the bad image of hunting!

No family relations with the person in the picture or anyone in the situation

The only reason there are so many people with "opinions" and so many people who criticize is because pics like this are so accessible nowadays. The sad reality is, if you don't want people to have an opinion on what you do, don't publicize yourself and make images like this available to them....

Its bullshit to have to listen to, but that's what our first amendment allows us to do like it or not.

If it's legal to take the animal, then fuck 'em. I wouldn't post pictures while cleaning it, but I wouldn't do that for any animal I take. All you're looking for by posting that is a reaction. Post it when you first got it for the wallhanger, brag about the pile of meat you cleaned off of it, but not with it partially taken apart.

I defended this boy tooth and nail in a very heated argument on Facebook. There were death threats and asking where he was from and whatnot. I do believe with this picture he was asking for scrutiny. In my opinion it just seems disrespectful towards something that is likely a century old. Although I don't agree with killing the big males or breeder females. At the rate we are I wouldn't doubt seeing one this size would be a once in a lifetime chance 2 generations from now. With that said , his actions were 100 percent legal so who am I to judge.

A few guys I know mentioned his name but it looks like he either has a private Facebook or deleted it. Do you have any details on the turtle? What was the live weight, how was it caught? Was it caught in a pond or other area? Reason I ask is because the spikes are so worn that the area either has a large concentration of turtles (they wear them down by climbing on each other over the years) or he's very, very old. I have 3 80#, 100# and 120# I caught and put in my pond and none have the shell wear as this one. and finally there was a debate on whether that was a bullet hole in his head . I presumably say yes. I know none of the ones iv ever handled would have their neck stretched out that far enough for the saw to but without being debilitated first.

Im sure that kid only wanted to show his buddys the turtle he got on facebook. Its a cryin shame he's getting death threats over it , we all love to hunt and fish and show are pics off , just got to keep them in a small circle to stay out of the public's eyes. Just doesn't seem right when there TV show where guys are throwing spears at water buffalo ,showing kill shots of all types of game. Wonder if there getting death threats over there pic's on TV.

Yeah there's death threats from the granola lickers all over YouTube, hunting shows, Facebook pages of the hunters from those shows, etc. I always find it funny that hippies deliver death threats against hunters. Are they so stupid as to threaten a person who they just witnessed prove that they're 100% capable of hunting and killing something, while they themselves are presumably unarmed and dimwitted?

Ironically enough the hippies try so hard to live an all natural, organic, non GMO lifestyle by eating all kinds of goofy shit but wild game is as fresh and organic as it gets. Dumb with a capital D.

Nothing wrong with eating turtle etc but the picture did a pretty good job of making the whole process look bad. Could give a rats ass what the anti's think but it is our job not to make more of them!

I agree the pic should have been taking in a different manner. We as hunters are in the lime light, persay, when it comes to harvesting. Yet, there will always be people that will have a problem with it. On that note I will quote acts 10:13 " and god said unto peter Arise, Kill, Eat!" The problem is everything had to be politically correct these days, it seems the every day people have to go out of the way to accommodate and accept other beliefs, religious, ways of life, but ours is always under fire.

I understand that the picture is graphic but these people that eat processed meat, beef, pork, and poultry are treated way worse and on a nation wide scale.

Yes bernie, you're right but those type of people, never consider how inhuman stock animals are treated. To them though it doesn't matter, they see a harmless creature, as we see dinner.
