Mudmotor owner's nonprofit association to promote safe and responsible use of Mudboats/mudmotors. There are many like this for ATV, snowmobile, etc owners throughout the U.S. and Canada and worldwide. |

Dean, I have been pushing to get an association started but this is not what my vision was. I was hoping for more of a lobbying group. Your title sounds more like some group to educate owners and reduce liability. We need a group that protects our rights and educates the politicians and other groups about mudmotors and to promote goodwill. The owners don't need to be educated. |

The tentative plan is to have a separate entity to use as a conduit strictly for lobbying and proactive preservation of the status quo relative to access to public waters and inundated private land to its high water mark. We do not want to see regulation of the Mudmotor propelled vessel industry go the way of the ATV...restricted and relegated to designated paths. |

I agree that we should probably seek some funding help from manufacters, but it may be best to stay independent since you won't really need much from them anyway. Plus, if they fund it, it is harder for the group to appose anyhing they say/want. Not sure what that would be at this moment. If they won't, I'll in for $20, But I would push out the one week deadline. That's pretty tight to get anything done. Also consider taking Mudmotor out of the name. Mudmotors already has a preset feeling that this motor is only used to run mud in sensitve coastal marsh at low tide. I bought a "shallow water outboard" since I needed a super tough outboard to run stumpy swamps with heavy nuisance vegetation. So how about something else like "shallow water boating user association "? |

The name must be tweaked. And I agree with Terraboat 100%. Don't feel less of a man by using what I came up with, the Louisiana Shallow Watercraft Association. (LSWA). By use of that term, all mudboats and possibly airboats could be part of the association . Don't forget that fight we had a few years back against banning bowfishing. Airboats and fan boats with outboards would have an interest in our group. We should vehemently oppose any restrictions against mudboats and airboats similar to the gun lobby. Do not give them an inch. Extend the deadline and I, am sending my check out tomorrow. I cannot devote to this full time as no one else really can either but I will be involved and will take a board spot and membership 00001. . I applaud you for taking this on with your "know how". Just remember this is a democracy and I think having a board take votes and make decisions on matters would work the best. Just my input. . |

I know most of yall dislike dean and I don't agree with hardly anything he posts but we all came together for the Plaquemines Parish fight and look what happened. He didn't win that battle, GT didn't win that battle, my calls and emails didn't do it, the LA Sportsman wasn't the deciding factor. It was all of you who collectively that made the difference by your phone calls and emails. I urge you to give this a chance and send in $10. This is just for the incorporation and non profit filing. Some of you tulips spend $10 on a faggoty angry Stella tire flat orchard pale ale craft beer. This doesn't mean that this is Dean's dictatorship and his organization so get that out of your head. |

Going to be tough to police the U.S. I say start here and get it set up. Don't bite off more than we can chew. If this becomes a success then we can expand. I bet that 90% of the MM owners are located in TX and LA. I am not against the ASWA but I'd like to use LA as a test case. |

Don't forget Mississippi. They have quite a few there also. If we make it just for us, we are excluding a lot of potential support from Texas and Mississippi. Plus it is not a good idea to change the name of an organization once it gets popular. |

Dean, I'm about to send some money. I would like to be. I would like to be considered for a board position. I have sat on many environmental regitory boards around the country. I am familure with dealing with government regulatory agencies. I also have insite to helping the board meetings run efficiently and have the abilities to have anyone attend via Internet conference. This alone will help the board meet more regularly and have a strong attendance. I know that I don't have a large post count but I tend to not just post things for the hell of it. I have a lot I can contribute in this area and would like to. As for as the na-sayers about a group being a waste of time I can assure you that couldn't be more wrong I have seen it and been apart of it accross the country in many different area and industries. The key is to understand not everyone will see eye to eye and the majority rules. Allow for as much input as possible. I hope my offer to help is accepted. I see this could be big. |
