Houston Area
Hello everyone I have been looking over mmt for a while but dont believe i have ever posted.
I was looking for a little insight from those of you that live in the Houston, Humble, Galveston areas. I am thinking about moving from SC to that area of Texas and would really value some input on how family friendly the area is. Thank you in advance.

Re: Houston Area
Yeah unless you're single and in your early 20's, you want to be out of the city a little bit. As far as I'm concerned, there are nice parts of each area, but it's going to be dictated by where you're going to work, because traffic here is an absolute nightmare.

Re: Houston Area
If you want to be close to the water and good schools - clear lake / Kemah / league city area is good. I live in League City and commute to work, about 45 minute drive Several of us on here live in that area. Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Houston Area
Thanks for all the info.
As far as work, I am currently Project manager looking to get another Construction manager job which requires daily travel.
Just looking at houses and schools, made me think about the Humble area. I'll look around those areas mentioned and see what I find. Thanks again.

Re: Houston Area
As far as school programs go, you cant beat Barbers Hill ISD in Mont Belvieu, Tx (south east houston) or Friendswood ISD in Friendswood, Tx (South West Houston) both are nice places to live as well. i went to BH and can back that up. My step brother and sister moved from Friendswood and i know that their school program is just as good as its said to be as well.
Both school are in the top 100 out of 1000 ranked schools in the state.

Re: Houston Area
Well after 2 years it looks like this is happening and were looking at homes between Katy, Cypress, Spring and Tomball.
When it comes to hunting out there, is most of it done on public land or is it best to join a club / lease some land?

Re: Houston Area
Out of those Spring would be my last choice unless you feel like(Tarzan) the other 3 are fine. You can do public from all those areas 1.5hr drive.Katy and Cypress would be very close to alot of private leases.Good luck with your choices.

Re: Houston Area
1.5 hour drive to go hunting would suck. I hate driving so I would have to find another hobby. I guess the 15 minute drive to the boat ramp to hunt ducks and the 45 minute drive to the the salt to catch snapper has me spoiled.

Re: Houston Area
Im kind of used to driving to get t a decent place to hunt. To get to decent public land to hunt deer has been 45mins to an hour for awhile (private land is about the same) and for ducks, well, to get away from the majority of the idiots, it takes 1.5 hours and I have driven up to 3. Looks like somethings arent going to change. hahahahaha

Re: Houston Area
Frog lives on what was arguably one of the finest duck hunting lakes in Florida. When they started killing off the hydrilla there about 15 or so years ago, hunting went in the crapper. Back then I would drive 45 minutes to get away from the zoo on Lake Okeechobee.

Re: Houston Area
Definitely poor management. They argue that is helps the fishery. I thought the fishing was better when the hydrilla was thick. Just need the correct setup to run the hydrilla and stop caving to the whining northern perch jerkers that overheat their pontoon boat every 10 feet.

I've grown up in town my entire life. Went to spring branch ISD and some private. If you work in town, the commutes to & from the suburbs are a PITA
