Ok long story somewhat shortend, I was fired from the body shop Ive worked at for 5 years today. I was told to move my tool box to a spot in the shop we call the dungeon, no light or airflow. I was told to do so because we just hired a guy with a green card and work visa that doesnt speak a lick of english, who needs to be next to a guy that speaks both english and spanish.Well I dont so I was told to move, I said no and eventually was fired. So do I have any ground to stand on?

I think the "eventually" part of the story needs to be addressed. But if you were chit canned because you don't speak Spanish then you probably have something to stand on if you can prove that. Employer probably has different reason that sounds less political e.g. Cheaper labor, etc.

Pretty messed up to work for a place for that long and it end like that. Sucks bad man, good luck with the search.

Go to local news channels let them run your story on air let everyone you know and boycott them. Then find you another job.

Depends on your state. Here in MI you can be let go for any reason or no reason as long as its not union. Probably better just to do what they did back in the day...find other work and move on, dont waste effort on the past it will likely just cause you more stress dealing with it

Thats most likely whats gonna happen. Got a job offer as a diesel tech. So gonna head that direction. My wife works with the state attorney so she wants to dig a little deeper, but like you said im most likely gonna move on.

Man it sucks for you and I can somewhat understand where your coming from with the whole Mexican thing, but at the end of the day you didn't follow orders.

I asked the question because it pisses me off. Im not looking for pitty or a law suit, just didnt know if there was something I could do because I liked my job and the guys i worked with. I dont think my wife would do anything stupid, and i told her that i didnt want her to do anything. Im not one of those young guys who feels the world owes me. Im gonna start a new job on Friday and move on with my life. I just dont think its fair a guy losses a job over some dumb shit like that, ecspecially with the fact that ive never been written up, show up early and stay late, even work weekends. Again I was just pissed off, and I know I was wrong by not following orders.

if it makes you feel any better, i been fired for doing way less than that from really good jobs.
