 Duck call making
Any of you guy make your own calls? Not just turning a barrel and sticking an ECHO insert in it. Im talking about making your own tone board and getting them to sound good enough. Reason I ask, I have a former co-worker that just started to do this as a hobby. He 74 years old and has no intention on making them to sell, just looking for some pointers. He is very meticulous about his shit and is very organized. He has kept a journal and has tried all sorts of shit. Hes currently on the 31st try (he's numbering them so he can revert back to his notes). He is very close to have it down pat. If any of you guy are involved in this, please let know and I'll pass on the info. Ole fart said all he wants is to get it right, hand em out.

 Re: Duck call making
Gotta leave more on the board than u want...u can take it off but u cant put it back....sand a little at a time till it rattles...then tweak the reed some. One side lower than the other on the toneboard sometimes helps...and u normally dont need as much air to make it work. A real duck dont sound nothing like most calls. If it sounds kinda "rough" it will work with only a few decoys when other calls wont, after the birds are call shy.
