Post Boating fatality in Baytown
Sadly lifejackets may have saved a life if worn properly.

It happened just after 2 p.m., when six people traveling in a fiberglass boat hit a hidden sandbar and got stuck. According to Texas Parks And Wildlife officials, the skipper of the craft tried to back his boat off of the sandbar, but in the process, the craft capsized. All six people aboard went into the water. Officials said in the panic and confusion of the moment, one man was killed. The other people managed to hold onto the flipped water craft until help arrived. Shortly afterward, a good Samaritan in another boat came to their rescue, but in trying to help, he also capsized his craft. He and the survivors from the first boat were able to make it to shore safely. The United States Coast Guard aided in the rescue. Members of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are leading the investigation into the incident. The name of the victim who died has not been released.

Where is there a sandbar over there? All I could find was some super goopy mud under a lot of water. Tide was really high this weekend to.

I'm confused... They got hung up on a sand bar but couldn't stand on that same sand bar until help arrived?

Sad event regardless.

Depending on chop conditions I could see how they couldn't and how the boats capsized

It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.
