Got a friend that builds. Willing to ask him if you still haven't gotten an answer.

Not anymore, but built and installed custom cabinets for about 7 years. What's your question?

Any particular plywood to use for a formica countertop?

Depends. , are you going to be using contact cement on top and bottom for application. ? You can use a BC grade al long as you fill the knot holes and knock any high spots down if your trying to save costs . Ideally the smoother surface ac pines work the best as a underlayment . Stay away from the smooth stain grade. , that gets really pricey ,I'd not use any osb for it's flaking properties and irregularities . Hope that helps .

I've made formic counter tops with plain old cdx plywood. It worked fine. I just got the pieces with the least amount of knots. Like Finn said though, if you can get ac plywood by where you live go with that. It's a better finished product, I prefer contact cement for formica.

It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

Home depot was running a special on sanded two side pine panel's last week. Not sure if it is still going or not. Was a little under $30 for a 4X8 sheet. Used it for the bottom of the cabinets. Not sure if that would work with what Finn is suggesting. But one side is knot free and the other side contains knots.

Use a single. 3/4" if you can , plenty of strength , for a counter top width.
