Post Louisiana Lifetime Hunting and Fishing License
Looking at getting both my boys lifetime license. My oldest, 16, just finished and has his hunters safety card, just need to get a LA id to get his lifetime license. My question is, can I get a lifetime license for my 12 year old, even though he hasn't taken the hunters safety course?

I'm pretty sure. My brother in law got them for his two boys a few years back and they are not but 10 and 8 years old

Application shows 14 and over, but isn't clear on hunter safety requirement.

101 Resident Lifetime Combination Hunting and Fishing (Age 14 and over) $500.00
102 Resident Lifetime Hunting License (Age 14 and over) $300.00
103 Resident Lifetime Fishing License (Age 14 and over) $300.00

Brother in law said you can purchase now but they will not actually receive the license till they complete the hunter safety course.

Good for you on getting the lifetime licenses. Here in Indiana we could get them for years and then one day they shut the life time license down. All I hear is the whining of shoulda coulda woulda. Now they are gone forever. Me I got my lifetime comprehensive hunting, fishing and trapping licenses a long time ago. James Bond License to kill is what we call them. They have paid for themselves several times.
All I have to do is buy a federal duck stamp and hip number and I'm set. The one thing I miss out on is the state duck stamp.
Anyone reading this and pondering a lifetime license you should jump.

One other thing even if I move out of state my lifetime license is still good should I come back to Indiana and hunt, fish or trap.

I bought my LA Lifetime a long time ago as well and it paid for itself many times over and still have a long way to go; God willing.

Like netman said, if you are thinking about it; and have the money ; don't hesitate.

It's an investment in what you love to do. The licenses will never get cheaper.

A little update. I ran into a,snag. The website states the requirements for 18u. When I arriv3d, I had the origin al birth certs for both ( 16 & 12), I was told that the 16 yr old needed an ID. Doesn't state the on the site. We'll he takes his drivers test tomorro2, so he'll get his ID. No aid needed for anyone under 16, 16 and above need some form of ID with pic. Other than that, pretty simple.

I bought one when before I moved out of state for a while and both my boys have them. $200 for kids under 5. Lifetime hunting and fishing. And yes, they won't get their actual card until they complete the safety course

Correct and I stand corrected. They sent the blue card with the one I just sent off for with my 4 year old. You can get a duplicate with the hunter safety certification when they take it otherwise, they will have to carry both.

A couple of years back, my oldest boy only got a paper certificate. I'll be calling the LAWDF to try and get a card for him.

FYI, it was about a one week turn around. The most efficient process in the state of Louisiana.

I buy this for all my nieces, nephews, god kids, and daughters when they turn one year old. It's a great investment and they won't break it or eat it....

Once you fill out the forms and send them in, you will get the plastic card and it won't have the hunters safety number stamped unless you provide that documentation as well. They can add it later if you have young kids. Otherwise, you would have to carry both the safety card, lifetime license, duck stamp and all the free hip and tag bullshit you need annually.

My son has had his lifetime license for 4 years now. He just turned 11. No ID needed unless it recently changed. Best investment u can ever make if u love the outdoors. He has a certificate on the wall. Will get his license when he passes the hunter Ed. Class.

Love the way Georgia has theirs set up. $200 if you get before the child is 2 years old. My dad bought my brother's when he was 1. A sportsman's license alone is $100 a year. It would make a hell of a first birthday gift. But good for you doing that! Wish my dad had the hindsight to have gotten mine when I was that young. Had to pay $500 for mine.
