Please review the Louisiana Sportsman's article on the proposed restrictions on mudmotors in the WMA's listed in the article. http://www.louisianasportsman.com/lpca/ ... t&id=72156 My hope is that participation in the public debate about the proposed ban would be the first active effort by the SWBA to mold a favorable outcome. But before any action can be taken we need funding for director's insurance, without which no one is be willing to sit on the board. So I'm asking for donations. We need about $2000 to start. Short of that, it will be difficult to do anything. We can gauge where the association will go by the level of participation in this initial funding solicitation. I would hope manufactures and ancillary industries (boat builders, engine shops, accessory suppliers, etc) will contribute, too. We have several MMT members willing to sit on the board. They should chime in here to lend their thoughts and ideas moving forward on this. Thank you. |

It does not help the cause if you post bullshit. Now, I'm gonna ask nicely one time that each of you voluntarily delete the negative comments and that no one else ninja it up either. |

Just like how he was asking for money from a ride in SC when he voluntarily decided to keep this organization in LA. Any of y'all that donated money to fund the start up of the SWBA feel like y'all getting ripped off yet? ![]() |

Hate on dean all you want. But all the causes that call for something like the swba, dean can't do everything himself. The organization Is meant to stand up for our recreational rights and make sure we can do the things we like to do, no matter what, a persons time is none the less time, it's worth something. You don't necessarily have to pay dean so to speak. But without money this thing can't accomplish much. The money people would put into it would fund this machine so it can actually function and help the one common interest all of us on here, and many more share. I think a fund raiser would be a good start. Maybe a poker run or something? The more money this organization has, in theory the farther it can reach to help out sportsman nationwide. Not just la. We need a dang meeting to think about how to raise money and how to actually put feet on the ground to speak for the members and those who share the same interest. It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face. |

Stop all the begging for money, criticizing Dean for his efforts, over thinking the cause, etc. Go and plead your case to the industry leaders, stiff them for 5 figures high and hire a high powered, expensive lobbyist and be done with it. Dean can run the effort seamlessly from his office and update the industry of the progress. It's quite simple really. |

Blue, actually the only large numbers the cause needs is dollars to pay the lobbyist and a compensation package for Dean to administer the effort. Dean can easily run the effort from his office to keep his clients (the industry's leaders) up to speed on the progress on the legislative front. The main clients have to be the manufacturers. The SWBA group can still have a presence and be the "face" of the effort. The group can collect dues, provide nominal support to it's members and self police the sport. Practically, the only people doing any substantial work for the cause would be Dean in administering and instructing the lobbyist, and the lobbyist. The difficult part is selling the cause to the industry leaders. |

Dean, you are an attorney, not a salesman. You need a salesman that will make the industry giants want to pony up the money. The operative word is "want". Find a salesman that is as passionate about selling as you are about your interests. This person should be an expert in closing and be versed in the industry. There are people out there, probably a number on this site, that are closers. Find this person and put them to work. You have to delegate these tasks to people that can accomplish these goals. You can't do everything. Delegate. Organize a very small group, no more than 4 plus yourself, and brainstorm, strategize, and identify. It's really quite simple and will probably be fun. Leave politics, religion, and personal opinions aside. Give yourself unreasonable deadlines and come in early. Simply put, identify your mark and enforce it. |

Ever think that maybe the manufacturers read this forum..... Then, maybe they consider the cat trying to chase them around the field? |

I would hope that the manufacturers read this and the other forums that support their industries. It would also be instructive to them to have people on here to take the pulse, so to speak, of their equipment and it's popularity, etc. of the people that buy it. This type of regulation can effect other adverse regulations on the industry. Someone needs to get out in front of it quickly. The industry leaders here should be comprised of not only mud motor manufacturers, but boat manufacturers across the spectrum as well as the manufacturers of all the ancillary equipment that supports this sport. Call it insurance for an industry. |

I would be willing to sit on the board and chip in some money. But what I do not understand is why the people that make their money from MM sales and repair are not jumping in on this. They have said nothing. Yet it is their lively hood that is threatened. For the big motor and boat mfg's to give 1000 each a year would be easier for them than for us to put up money and give of our time. In fact, a MM company should have a place on the board. |

I can point you in the right direction. Right now I have a conflict of interest problem that would keep me from any active role with this organization. It's another obligation to an eleemosynary board that keeps tight reigns on it's board members to avoid any bad press or otherwise. Dean can easily handle this with a hot female assistant as his front person. Pretty and smart, pretty gets you in the door and smart closes the deal. Dean might be smart but he isn't what the average man wants to see in a short skirt and a low cut blouse. |
