Gator trax won't ship it anymore and no one around here carries it. I understand only certain stores even mix it.

If I remember correctly you can't buy it at you regular SW store. It has to be a SW store that carries automotive paint. Maybe try you local body shops and ask them who supply's their paint.

If your local sw store doesn't carry commerce coatings then they will have it mixed at one and will ship it to your nearest store. Fairly painless.

A lot of stores don't carry flat colors, only semi or high gloss.

Tell them what you are using it for and that you need to knock the sheen down. KEM 400 comes as a gloss. They can use flattening agents to take the gloss out.

Flattener is corn starch. Not shitting you. You can do it yourself if it costs extra at the paint store

According to my regional sales rep from SW, They offer a Kem400 that is flat, but only the main stores boat companies use like Little Rock and one in Houston area and 1 near NOLA offer it because those stores have to buy like 500 gallons of the flat color.

If you go to your standard SW store that offers Kem 400 Gloss colors and then add the flattening agent it lowers the quality of the paint and then when water hits it or boat sits in the water over time it will turn the paint a chalky color

Or you could just put corn starch in it and it will be chalky looking from the start. ;)

Never tried it with Kem 400. It works like a charm with clear coat. There's an all black Sai Marchetti s211 jet flying around las Vegas I painted 4 years ago for a customer. All the products came from sherwin williams. Guess what the s/w flattering agent was they sold me? Amylum, look it up. It's corn starch. They give you a chart. How much to mix at what volume/ what temp etc.... I'm pretty sure if I painted a 1.2 million dollar custom airplane and the clear coat turned chalky, I'd be hearing about it.

You paint jets? I guess that makes you MMT's authority on all things paint, camo, and application.
I have an older boat I want painted and camo'd. When I get it out of the water I'll send you pictures and you tell me what I need to do. I've been brainstorming over this ordeal for a year just afraid I'd f*ck it up.
