 Re: Asian carp
You would think they would have almond shaped eyes at least if they are going to be called Asian.

 Re: Asian carp
T shot ,there are numerous commercial fishermen making a good living netting Asian carp in your area. The Asian carp are a plague that has and will take over our eco system. They will phase out numerous species. I believe it's too late.

 Re: Asian carp
there are soo many by me in IL that industry is being formed to use the resource. Just a few weeks ago the DNR netted 90,000lbs of them out of one pool on the IL river. All being made into fertilizer or pet food.

 Re: Asian carp
so y'all use hoop nets to get them or what? I heard of some guy that came up with some sort of butterfly net system that are off the sides of the boats to just skim the surface. But they did not accept the idea through the state because they said that it could not guarantee what is in the nets. LOL, so you sort through your by catch and throw the others away.

 Re: Asian carp
I shoot them with my bow, but the commercial fishermen drop nets and make noise to push them into a corral.

 Re: Asian carp
once you have them you are pretty well fucked. Little in the way of predators especially once the reach a certain size. They kill the lake from the bottom up feeding on the plankton which cuts off the food supply for native baitfish panfish and the smaller organisms in the watershed. this in turn effects the predator species stavation lower than normal growth rates ect. If you got em its pretty much too late take up bowfishing or find a new lake

 Re: Asian carp
Thanks for the input I love bowfishing , just not one to shoot and leave it type guy . Lots of times I've seen them left at the boat landing, fertilizer works for me my ground needs it . I heard they wasn't paying that much per pound and the closest place to take them is somewhere in KY.

 Re: Asian carp
I tear their gills out and toss them . I kill them by the ton. Gill nets is the best way to catch them however I know of guys doing good with 5 and 6 foot hoop nets.

 Re: Asian carp
best thing to do is go find your local wildlife and fisheries biologist and throat punch that mfer until he realizes he needs to get off his azz and figure out how to get rid of them.
the sorry mfer who brought them here should be tracked down and hung. i was told it was catfish pond farmers from arkansas/mossirri who were using them to keep their ponds in check and they escaped in a big flood. Never should of happenned and whoever let them use the carp should be hung for ruining our fisheries and stripped of anything of value and the money given to people who have been injured or killed by flying carp.
of course, nothing will happen except joe public will be screwed. kill evry one you see, but it won't change a thing.

 Re: Asian carp
Ive seen on YouTube guys stirring them up and shooting them with shotguns which looks like fun. One bow fishing outfit that trolls and let's the clients shoot them off the back of the boat. The best yet I have seen is guys on skis and wake boards in football gear with an array of weapons and nets. They call it "skarping" and it looks cool as hell. The best is when they bring out the baseball bat with nails through it and they also have a trident and a frog gig.

 Re: Asian carp
Flint you can make the best out of skarping since they are here to stay. However read Puddlers response. Asian carp are going to effect bass, crappie and every other game fish we know today.
