Post subject:  Awesome truck light bars

It is a pretty well known fact that I'm not a big fan of unnecessary LED illumination...LED light whips, colored LED lights to illuminate rooster tails, color changing LED lights under catwalks and/or decks...

So, these days I try to understand the huge lightbar on the roof of the truck thing. I can't bring myself to get it. I guess I'm getting too old at my ripe ole 28 years to keep up with the times, but what is the purpose of having enough LED lighting on your 100% street driven (except when you back up by a fire to sit on the tailgate when you're pretending to be Earl Dibbles, Jr.) 4x4 pickup truck to send a signal to astronauts on the fucking international space station? I saw an F250 a couple days ago with about a 50" bar on the roof facing forward and another one on the back facing backwards...and more small light bars in his bumper. Is that in case you wanna blind everyone in the remote proximity of your truck? Or do you really need 56,233 lumens of nastyness to unload some 2X4's out the back of your truck? And what is with the douchedicks driving down the highway at fucking high noon with their lightbars on?

I mean, I can understand if you have some kinda huge ranch in west texas with vast expanses you might have to check out at night from time to time, or if you do some hard core trail running and you need the lights, or on a camp truck...but whats with all the highway queens and their infatuations with truck LED's? Are they supposed to look good or something? Most of the time they are less visually appealing than the transom corner of a prodigy boat, or that ridiculous transom that that cottonmouth dude came up with.

Somebody please enlighten me. :|

They are stupid as hell. I've busted the balls of a few people that have put them on, it's always funny to hear how they rationalize getting them. "I use them to light up my backyard to play cornhole". I think people think they look cool and they are cheap now.

Full disclosure, I have a 7.5 inch bar on the front of my boat and it's plenty for riding around trying to get to hunting spots. It's small, dosent get in the way and I only use it when I need it.

I have all of my truck lights (back up lights, brake lights, etc) on switches to turn them off and then drive with night vision and/or thermals, fuck being seen.

They're for finding a parking spot at the mall. At night. In the next township.

I am of the same opinion. Recently, however, I found an acceptable explanation for ONE of these trucks. Dude works concrete for a company that builds a lot of buildings (commercial and residential). Gets paid by the job, so needs to finish regardless of darkness. He uses that light bar so they can see wtf they're doing. He wasn't finished with my slab until around 9 that night, and mine was pretty simple. Said he's out til 2am frequently. Claims to only use that light for work.

I don't get it either for the most part. A friend of mine just spent obscene money on a 50" single row bar for his teryx-4..... That came with bright ass headlights from the factory. Knowing damn well the few times it does get ridden at night, there are 45 other idiots out there with enough light to have a sporting event on the dark side of the moon. There are justifiable reasons... But very few.

I also have one on my boat, and when it's not being used for its intended purpose it gets folded down out of the way. In my case, it was cheaper than the good halogen setup I would have liked to get, so the light bar won. It works pretty well as long as it's not foggy.

Y'all funny talking bout quiet exhaust when you have aftermarket lawn mower exhaust that you can hear from 2 miles away lol.

I think truck light bars look gay. Especially on the roof or even worse bolted on the hood. But this is also coming from a guy with an 8in lifted truck on 37s and train horns lol

I've seen some light bars that don't look bad. They are incorporated into the brush guard and don't stand out. The 50in ones that are mounted for everyone to see just look dumb. I don't see a problem with having the small ones. If your on a backroad by yourself and don't wanna hit a deer flip it on. Or swinging by a field at night to illegally shoot a deer

I have a light bar but I tried to make it least noticeable as possible. I really like it when I'm on my land at night or cutting thru some dirt roads.

Your lightbar looks good. I actually planned on putting one on the 150 like that. Back and forth to work I run all backroads in the dark and already smoked a deer with the truck last year

The one on the roof makes zero sense to me because all you do is light the hood up and blind yourself.

I've got one in the front bumper of my Z71. Makes a world of difference setting out a goose spread in the dark. That's about all I've ever used it for honestly.

I only use mine while running the roads at night in west Texas. I tried to make it look as clean as possible. I got some regulator brackets and used those to make they bar sit so far in.
