Post Synthetic winch rope
Looking to replace the cable on Ranger 800 winch with the synthetic rope. Winch is the 4500 Polaris winch that came with it. cable is kinked to hell and rusted, so I'm replacing it with the rope and aluminum hawse fairlead. Anyone done this? How much rope is needed, 50'? Also what diameter?

It was either Amazon or eBay. It's been a few years. Paid around $65-70 for the rope with chafe guard. Bought the hook and aluminum hawse separate.

Synthetic is the way to go. I have Amsteel Blue on my truck 15K pound, they're many different brands out there now. You can go smaller with synthetic and put more on the spool. It's stronger than wire per diameter. Super light, can roll it up like an extension cord and throw it. Just dont drag it on sharp rocks while winching, it can be cut. Easy to repair of you do mess up a spot.

Best ting about it is it will not kink like steel. You can spool up a brand new wire and ruin it the first pull. The synthetic is way more forgiving.
