Sitting on my porch drinking coffee and watching wood ducks fly around my home and then land in a 75 ft tall tree and walk in a hole while it's mate stands on a limb. There are several pair nesting across from my home and several pair nesting in the trees behind my home. I watch the woodies swim on my slough then fly up to a limb and go into the tree. It's great to see them return to the same old trees year after year.

Netman. , usually , 3 different pairs can use the same box or hole in a tree. March , April, and may hatches , I've been building and putting boxes out for a while now .

That's awesome. We don't have the woodies, but we do have a large population of squealers around the house. They had babies in our pond last year, and it looks like we may have them again this year.

Had 2 hatchings in my pond already. About 30 baby's I see everyday. My crawfish pond is surrounded by tree's and I have a few boxes. I'd like to know how many woody's actually survive from raising there has to be quite a few hundred. Pretty awesome...... Ohh and they taste pretty good in a pot roast in the winter,.

Last few years I've had 3 pair of woodies that nest in or around my yard. This year there are 8 pair! I love to sit on the back porch with my son in the afternoon and listen to them splashing and squealing in the oak bottom. I need to put up some boxes.
