Dirty businesses - what to do?
My mom was having an extension to the side of the drive way added and the businesses we used took a $1000 down payment from her after they came and laid the frame boards and never heard back from them again. Called and called and always went to straigt to voicemail. Wouldnt reply to her emails either. Called from another number to request a quote and they answered immediately and took all my info until they got an address from me. Hung up pretty quickly after that. I sent them an email and they replied back within 10 minutes if they could come out and give me a quote. I replied back with a name and address and never heard back again. Then I created a post on one of those contractors needed pages requesting someone to pour a slab for me and they were the first ones to email me back (different email address) if they could come and give me a quote. Called them back off my brothers phone and answered immediately so I requested to speak to the owner and was put through to him. Told him everything that was going on and he apologized multiple times and said he would have his guys there first thing in the morning. Its been 3 days and haven't heard back from them and and they won't answer any of our calls. These people were referred to me by multiple neighbors who had the same thing done and they all said they had 0 problems with them and were done start to finish in 2 days. We really don't know what to do in this situation, anyone got any suggestions?

Have an address to said business? I'd be pitching a tent and camping out right there, until my deposit was returned, or said job was finished.
Or, I'd find out where they are working on the next job, and I'd be there.

You live with your mom or somewhere else? Set up them to come look at a job somewhere else. Make the work be in the back yard. Box the mother fucker in when he is not looking. Tell him he can get his truck Beck when he gives you your money back.
Have someone else finish the job. Fuck him. And I would have a good number of peeps there so he does not try and beat your ass.

Re: Dirty businesses - what to do?
I just stay there from time to time but when she does have work done I always make it a point to be there so she's not by herself. Yeah everything is framed in and rebar is laid just needs the concrete poured. I'm not worried about the work just pouring concrete is easy to my self its just the point of the matter that gets me. They required half after they came and laid the framework before they finished and she had several neighbors recommend these people so it wasn't any concern at the time. You can be sure that'll never happen again. I drove through probably 4-5 neighborhoods this morning to see if they had another job site but came up empty handed. I'm going to talk to a friend of mine this afternoon about getting some concrete poured....

Re: Dirty businesses - what to do?
Not sure of a contract but I know there's a quote/proposal form with the total written out and deposit and all that.
And the dementions are prob 15x20ish. Not exactly sure.
Just in case anyone is in an asshole mood today here you go

Re: Dirty businesses - what to do?
I never saw any of those, Wish I would have. That house in the pic is actually only 3 doors down. Glad to know I'm not the only one they've pulled that shit on. Were going to try and get a third party involved but if that gets us no where you bet that he's going to be giving away all kinds of free shit all over the country

Re: Dirty businesses - what to do?
I'm not keen on paying a dime upfront. My business I don't take anything upfront, I don't want your money until your completely satisfied. When I was redoing my house it blew my mind that subs wanted to take a draw. Just seems unprofessional. Sorry you got burnt, the fact that he wanted money down should of been a red flag, or is this standard in that business?

Get in touch again only tell them to come to a buddy's house actually have his wife call. So they think they are pulling one over on a women and you guys wait till they show up and confront them in person. And beat the shit out of the first d-bag that steps out of the truck. Lol. Sounds really dick. Good luck on resolving the issue these things can take forever to get resolved if ever. You could go to your local courthouse and file to sue them

Re: Dirty businesses - what to do?
Cut right past all the bull shit and went straight for the head of the snake. There's only 3 concrete suppliers in this area. Called all three and told them about the situation. All three said they had heard this about the company before and two said they wouldn't supply him and the third was who was supplying him said that he no longer would because that was the the third time thry heard that and they didn't want their name associated with a crook. So he should have some fun trying to do a job with no cement.

If he has a state certified license then turn him into the Department of Business and professional Regulation, or whatever you have there. You can also call the cops. He stole money plain and simple. I would not let it rest because he is going to rip a bunch of other people off as well!

Re: Dirty businesses - what to do?
Small claims court. Threatening people and shaking them down sounds very internet tough but will land you in a heaping pile of shit if the person has 3 neurons between their ears. Sounds like the company still has open doors, serve his ass.
