 Welder help
Eastwood 175 welder. It started doing this the other day. When I get off the trigger it flames up and smokes the tip. Does it every time regardless of the setting. They sent me a new spool gun and results are no different. I've tried a couple different rolls of wire, 2 different guns and 2 different bottles of argon. Going to be calling cs again in the morning. Just wondered if anyone has seen this happen? I put my phone in my helmet and got a video. Not the best but you can see/hear it flare at the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFM8boj ... ata_player

 Re: Welder help
My Eastwood gun was doing the same thing. Run .035 wire with .040 tip and hold the nozzle further away from the weld and that should solve your problem.

 Re: Welder help
You need more wire speed. You can hear miss right at the end, that's when its "burning back" to the tip. Everything else looks good. If the wire speed is maxed out, then you'll have to lower the heat setting. not sure of the heat input on the 175. One other thing to try is wire type. 4043 is a softer wire and will flow easier, thus needing less input to melt. 5356 is a stiffer wire and requires more heat input. Have you tried different wires? Also, using a bigger tip is not the answer. The wire and puddle will "wonder" and you wont have good control of the puddle when welding thinner stuff.

 Re: Welder help
I've tried everything. I can max the wire speed and same results. I've been using these same settings for the past 6 months with no issues. When I release the trigger it flames like a torch. I don't know wtf is wrong with it. FedEx is picking it up tomorrow to be replaced. And just a FYI for guys thinking about buying one, if you do you're a dumbass. This will be my 4th unit in less than a yr.

 Welder help
Sorry for the recommendation man. I hate that you've had so many issues with it. I've had good luck with my lil 135. Probably used it as much or more than my lincoln. But i havent tried to build a boat with either so definitely haven't put through anything really tough.
Hope you get it sorted out. Not guessing they'll give you money back at this point will they? Just let you return it for good?

 Re: Welder help
If you buy it through them direct you have a full 3yr warranty. Their cs has been excellent. I box it, FedEx picks it up on their dime and they send a new one. It's just a pain and I'm tired of having down time. I've basically got catwalks and welding it out and I'm done. If this next unit will finish then hopefully I'll be in the clear because I don't plan on ever doing this shit again.
