Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
Interesting. I've got a hopper. At last weekends mud run I had six frozen bottles of water along with a bag of ice in mine along with normal drinks. Granted it was hot as hell, after one full day, the bottles of water and all of the ice was melted and cool water was all that was left. Luckily, I never go anywhere to need ice very long. My next cooler will be a cheap one.

Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
I use the shit out of my hopper. If you don't pull the zipper all the way into the locked position you might as well be using a zip lock baggie for a cooler. I have been through a bunch of soft coolers... enough to cover the cost of the hopper. Glad to see the R-TIC is such a strong competitor.

Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
My buddy did a side by side test between the two brands. They were almost identical with ice retention.
I love my Hopper. It is my go for everyday boating.

Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
Anybody got a Bison or an Orca soft side? The Orca with the backpack straps looks pretty heavy duty.

Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
Just a rumor I heard, granted it was from a yeti rep, but the owner of Rtic is the owner of Yetis ex-wife..

Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
If the rtic holds up as well as the yeti, it's a good deal for the price. Time will tell. Rtic soft pack 30 - $124.99 Yeti hopper 30 - $349.99
I had my rtic on order for over a month and was 2 weeks past it's ship date. Then this past weekend the bucees down the road had them in stock so I canceled my order. The rtic 65 is supposed to be here tomorrow. Anyways, thanks for watching the video!

Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
They probably pissed that rtic has exposed their large profit margin. The wife bought me a cheap Walmart cup for work that keeps ice just as long as my yeti.

Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
Using bag ice like that nothing is gona keep that long. It's already below freezing when you get it. You gotta use ice like comes from your fridge that's dry to the touch. When I want my Yeti to hold ice for a long time I freeze blocks of it in Tupperware and then use the ice from my ice maker to pack in around it. It keeps for a week in the summer like that.

Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
We were talking about this with a deer lease member who is an attorney. A few weeks later he told us that the founders of Yeti had sold the company, and then started RTIC. He sees it as being a possible “trade dress” case but not a copy right / patent case.
Regardless – it’s interesting – and I won’t buy another Yeti product.

Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
You'd think if it was the yeti founders they'd be able to keep inventory instead of having to preorder them

Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
I think the lawsuit has already been settled.
Seems I read that somewhere, might have even been the RTIC site.

Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
That's what I saw...rtic gave yeti a piece of the business or something. And I've read several different things about the owners, everything from ex-wife, to brothers that used to own it, to a used-to-be part owner that left and did his own thing...who knows what's true.
I've ordered a few of the tumblers and coozies, same exact thing as the yeti. Sitting next to each other, can't see any difference. Customer service has also been great. I've canceled a cooler order with no trouble and changed the address on another order with no trouble, both with very quick responses.

Re: Yeti hopper vs Rtic soft pack
I paid 59 bucks for my Ozark Trail jumbo soft cooler. It held ice all day in the blazing sun out on the lake during the 4th of July. Super nice quality and much easier to tote around then my yeti or orca.
