Bought a new house, and need a new building. Can't purchase until I sell my old place but I want to have a plan in place. I'm looking for a 40x60 with 10' or 12' eaves. I sent out a few e-mails for quotes this morning. You guys have any suggestions for the SETX area? I'll be assembling the building myself.

I work for S&S Steel Buildings in Arnaudville, LA. We sell, install, and manufacture them.

I’m only looking for someone to buy the building from. I have a 50horse tractor with forks and a scissor lift. Uncle lives next door who is an electrical contractor. Has a bucket truck, man lift, and trackhoe.

I need to get some foundation plans with anchor bolt layouts. I’ve got the money to build the slab now, but can’t buy the building until I sell the house.

Thanks for the suggestions!

We have blueprints in hand for a 60x80x12 metal building. Basically half shop, half house. It'll be built within the next few years hopefully. I have a good friend who's a home builder that helped me with drawings and I've sent them to several metal companies for estimates. At this point, the concrete is gonna be at least as much as the friggin building. Metal buildings have come a long way in recent years. My wife wasn't on board either till I started showing her some of them. There are some around, that you'd never guess we're steel buildings until you drove up to them and actually did some looking.

Robert, One of the best quotes I've gotten so far has been from Mueller.

Thanks fellas. If you are doing it to save money You wont really save any UNLESS you can self contract and do ALOT of work yourself.
This is framed up on the inside just like a wood frame home, without roof rafters. The rest is all the same. The wife was all for a different style so we did this.

Yep plan on doing a lot of the work myself. But maybe not, still in the works. Gotta get this one sold first

Those things are cool but two things for me is having seen what happens to a slab when the plumbers fuck up and there's a leak I don't want to live on one, the other thing is that my wife is dead set on what style house she wants to build and I really like it too.

We've got hit by some pretty hard storms and hurricanes in SETX. My current building at the house I'm selling (30x40) was built in the late 80s and has withstood mother nature. I'm not building this for a house, although we look'd at that option real hard. Land was just too expensive where we wanted to be.

Jack... when the hurricanes pounded Okeechobee in 2004 and 2006 Darrell Bowers was living in his red iron building. He had framed half of it as a house inside and the other half was his shop. It was very nice inside. During the storms Darrell said it was rock solid. It was also pretty energy efficient. The walls and ceiling had @8 inches of insulation.
