A few years ago I hunted the Pintail Lodge in Texas near Eagle Lake. We went the last week of the season. I shot a couple looooong bull sprig pintails and some half moon drake blue wing teal. I planned to bring all four birds home for mounting. Some tool from Kansas grabbed my birds and took them home. |

Guides in the Venice LA area can put you in pintail. Check out limitless waterfowl, pretty new guide service and they kill lots and lots of sprigs and some Cans. I will be down there in January hoping to kill some sprigs myself. |

Pintails are some beautiful birds, but I hate to see them bastards circling a field when mallards are higher than them but thinking about committing. Them spooky bastards will bug out 70 % of the time, taking the mallards with em. Pretty rare to see a stupid pintail cup and dive into the he decoys |

From your area, if you want a pintail, hunt with Pat Simmons up in Fairfield, NC. He's consistently loaded down with pintails. For the Can go to Roanoke Rapids Lake, NC, believe the guide's name is Darrell and he will put you on a Can. |

You can still shoot them. Just have to buy canvasback tags. Just like the teal tag. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Big rivers or lakes are where you will find the canvasbacks. Pintails are a dime a dozen in Arkansas. They like the large open marshes and rice fields. When I was a kid living in northern MN, you couldn't shoot a pintail to save your life. |
