Post subject: | WORK BOOTS |
Over the years I have bought many different boots and found them lacking. I have found a few pairs of boots that are comfortable and I tend not to stray from them. My question for yall is what are your favorite work boots and why? The reason I'm asking is I've found it adds up quickly when you buy a $150-$200 pair of boots after your satisfied trying them on in the store then wear them a week and find that they are not as comfortable as you thought. I am on my feet a lot during the day and I walk on hard concrete and as many of you know it can kill your feet at the end of the day no matter what you wear. Bottom line is I would like to hear from yall to see if there are some other options out there that I could be overlooking. I'm just trying narrow down the list of boots I buy and find out they aren't worth a shit. these are the boots I have been wearing the past few years and they have pleased me but wear out in about 6-8 months http://www.irishsetterboots.com/USD/pro ... tx-moc-toe I've been looking at these to "try" http://www.cabelas.com/product/footwear ... type%3DGNU http://www.irishsetterboots.com/USD/pro ... -ultra-dry |

I wear double h or Irish setter. I have a pair of Justin's right now and I hate them . They fit good in the store but have stretched a lot. Look t Keene also if you like lace up |

I've used lace up and pull on Ariat's most my construction career. This last time I decided to try Double H. I won't be going back to Ariat. The Double H seems to fit tighter, and has held up much better. |

Put brand name aside... the best thing you can do is go to a custom fitter and let them shim the insole to your foot. That's what makes the biggest difference in the world. One of the best pair of boots I ever wore was custom fitted RedWing steel toes. Was working shutdowns and saw many 16 hour days on concrete in mills, after I got those boots, I felt like I worked an 8 hour day at the end of the shift. Had custom fitted boots ever since until I got in the office... ![]() |

I've had two pair of Chippewa Briar lace ups that's have been great also. But for what he wants, the fitted Redwing would be the best way to go. |

It's funny how different people have different experiences with the same brand. THE most uncomfortable boot I've every own was Ariat. They broke my feet in, not the other way around. I've had good luck with Justin and Redwing. . |

Timberland pro, best boot I've found. On my 3rd pair in5 yes. They seem to last just a bit longer than all the others. |

It's not that funny, actually. Everyone's foot is different. A neutral footbed and upper will fit different on different people. That's why custom fitting is a very good idea for any footwear you'll be working or running or walking alot in. |

Timberland Pro is the most comfortable for me with Red Wing king toe coming in a close second. I do good if a pair of boots last me six months and I have tried a lot of different brands. About the toughest boots I have worn were Keen but they hurt the top of my feet. I know others that wear them and love them. I wanted to try Ariat but I can't find any that feel good because I have wide feet. Wolverine are terrible, only lasted about 3 months. Also tried Irish setter, Georgia, Rocky, Danner and several others without much success. |

I've worn Ariat work boots for years. I think I tried every design they made and settled on the square toe Sierra Ariat, and always had them put on the boot stretcher to fix the instep for my foot. I have recently tried a pair of Twisted X boots and have been less than impressed. I usually get a year out of my Ariats and they don't take long to break in right, these Twisted X's took forever to get right and I don't think I'll get 6-8mo out of them. I'll be going back with a new pair of the same Ariats next time. I'm hoping by then they're making that style in a composite toe. |

Ariat square toe orange tops here, the most comfortable and longest lasting for the money. I have tried Justin, Georgia boot, rocky and the Ariats will least about a year as where all the other would make it about six months, I work at an ag dealership so I'm on concrete as well as dirt and my boots are exposed to a lot of oil and other crap. The ariat insoles are awsome, prefer to buy them over any other insoles when I need to replace them. |

I've had the orange tops and ended up liking the plain ol brown tops better. Any of you guys who wear the orange ones, look into the brown Sierras. The sole is a bit harder but it's more oil resistant and they hold up much better if you have to climb around on equipment or piping like I do. https://www.amazon.com/Ariat-Sierra-Wid ... I like the Timberland pro, or Keen. I am currently wearing a pair of Keen's. Both are lightweight, but wear good on concrete. I used to wear Red Wing, but they're not as comfortable or light as these 2 brands. Wolverines are comfortable, but they're too soft to wear day in and day out on a commercial construction job site Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ariat are the best work boots ive ever worn. The work hog sole is very comfortable, I have psoririatic arthritis which causes allot of foot problems if i don't wear good shoes I'm in pure pain. Switched to Ariat years ago never looked back. Either way check out bootbay.com they have deals on all kind of boots and ship out fast. |

What size you needing? Got a pair of Doc Martin steel toes NIB that I probably won't ever wear. They are the ankle highs. I have the same pair in the shoe style that I wear with any of my khaki or brown dress pants. |

I wear the wolverine multi shock contour welt slip on. I've been wearing steel toes since I was 17 and these by far are the best boot I've ever bought. They are not hot, most comfortable ever and waterproof. They mold to your feet after a week or so. I wore one pair for 3 years 60 hours a week concrete floors standing mostly. I'm a bigger guy and these things are amazing. I will never buy another pair. They are tough as nails i worked in a machining shop with coolant and all kinds of shit all over them for those 3 years and only changed them out because I was changing departments and couldn't wear them in a clean room. By far the only boot I'll ever recommend! |

Thorogood is hands down the best boots I have ever owned. I have had all big name boots and they do not come close. On concrete for most of my 12 hrs a day but also in chemicals/water/mud/limestone/hot surfaces . I work in a Chemical plant and it is the most popular boot among all crafts, not to mention its made in the USA since 1893. I am told if you wear out the sole you can send them in to have new ones sewn on. I have been in the same pair since May of 2013. I have steamed these boots with 200# steam every 4 months to knock the Hydrocarbon off and conditioned the leather with Primo baseball glove butter. My soles are finished, gonna look into getting new ones sewn on. Boots normally last me 6 months. |

I'm pretty sure red wing makes Irish setters. I liked the old all leather setters, the new ones don't hold up for me though. |
