The first thing you need to know is what species do you want to hunt? I can make some recommendations after that. |

Not to interested in Alaska at the time, it's just going to be a short 3 day trip, Alaska will be a week long trip if I ever make it there to hunt... From what ive found so far North West Coast has all the same Sea Ducks as North East Coast with the exception that West has more Harlequins and Golden eye and East has more Common Eiders. I think i read you cant shoot Harlequins on East coast either. With that being said i think i would like to go west coast mainly because of the fact you can kill the Harlequins there... i found Wings and Waves Guide service and it seems pretty good, will have to look more into it though before I decide Im all ears for any suggestions, east or west coast. Any Sea Duck hunting im interested in, dont care to shoot divers except Golden Eye.. |

Found one in Massachusetts called Cape Cod Sea Duck Hunting. Waiting for an email or call back tomorrow hopefully with availability and rates. Seemed to be a pretty well reviewed outfitter. |

I'd recommend Jeff Coats at Pitboss Waterfowl. I haven't hunted with Jeff, but he was recommended to me by a friend who is a carver and a part-time guide himself. Jeff also posts some very informative and entertaining sea duck hunting videos on his website and on youtube. The videos will let you see how he hunts and the quality of the equipment he uses. I think he hunts mostly on the ocean side of the eastern shore where the birds aren't as educated as the ones that take a beating on the Chesapeake Bay. |

Need to find an outfitter who does layout boats. That's where it's at. Don't overlook North Carolina either |

If you are looking for Eiders stick with the East coast. Pacific Eiders are few and far between, and are only in huntable numbers in Alaska. I would check out capt Brian Rhodes with the swampers. If you are after Harlies You will need to go to Washington, or Alaska. I have only hunted in Alaska so I can't recommend anyone in WA, but if you can carve out the time, go with Aleutian Island Waterfowlers. They hunt in several places in AK, for lots of different species. |

If you want eiders get up to Rhode Island, Massachusetts, or Maine. I know the last two years the sea duck hunting didn't get the big push of birds like they have in years past. Also look for a guide that has options. You might get there and the ocean is to rough to hunt. Nothing you can do about it. If the ocean is to rough maybe they do layout hunts in more protected water. Jeff coats is a great option and so is Brian Rhodes. |

A kid down here shot a Bahamian Pintail a couple years ago. I don't know of anyone personally that has killed a goldeneye in south florida. I did see one drake goldeneye with some coots on Lake Okeechobee 2 years ago. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

We'll officially booked with Cape Cod Seaduck hunting for January 18-20th. Probably going to be alittle colder than this SETX boy is used to...going to lay up on a beach and shoot eiders one day, layout hunt scoters and old squawl one day, and a brant hunt one day. Going to be an exciting trip! |

You want to shoot Goldeneyes? Come see me late season in Canada. I can put you in the path of hundreds. We shoot lots here - also we pass on lots too lol not the greatest tasting, but great looking and decoying birds. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk |
