welding table wheels
I'm about to build a new 4x8 welding table for my new shop and want to put in on some lockable casters if possible. Any of you guys have one or made one? Which wheels did you use and what are the weight capacity of them?

Re: welding table wheels
Wheels depend on how much weight you want to handle. I have steel wheels on mine that will take a couple ton each. Look in Master Carr or Grainger to get a good idea of what's out there. Also on a 4x8 table I wouldn't worry about locking wheels. A big heavy table like that probably won't move very easy anyway.

I'll take a pic of one at work, tomorrow and text it to you. I'll see if they have any markings. I just ordered some casters for another project we built...nothing really big or stout...but, ordered them off of Grainger's website...we get a pretty good discount....but, they had filters on their website to narrow down by wheel material, wheel diameter, weight capacity, caster height, base dimensions, etc.....quite a few options to filter down to what you want. Figure out the manufacturer and model, go find some cheaper! LOL

Re: welding table wheels
I used all steel 4" castors 2- swivel 2- rigid, rated at 1500# each. They've worked great for 10-12 years. I added a table lock to mine instead of the locking castors. It was less expensive at the time.
