Got that “Dear Blue” letter....

Lease went up three fold what we were paying. Have a variety of reasons....lack of drilling, having to fight open access legislation, blah blah blah.

Anybody else on CL&F get one?

Hey bayou black hunter, how are we going to access our areas once bobs closes? Been trying to figure this out recently

I have been launching at a private launch for a while now. But if Williams closes Bob's and the other bayous off of the she'll canal I'll be blocked off also. I guess I'll launch in my front yard and run up bayou black. Or launch at the antill landing

Yeah, Amelia may be where I have to go or to the anthill launch. Going to be a longer ride out there though unfortunately

I think if Bob's does close. Only family select people will be able to launch at antill .
Everyone that knows them will be trying to launch there

I'll get a outboard to run from the landing to camp.
I don't want to make that run all the time.

I hate to do it, but, I would be stupid to pay that much money for so few ducks that we get; just for the sake of "legacy." Been hunting that lease since I was 9 years old. Got blood, sweat and tears into the current camp...since Andrew took out the original camp my dad built.

Man, it's a tough call. One of my two brothers has already said to take his name off the lease. I'm prolly gonna do the same.

It's a shame to hear that man. I just started hunting that area last year because a guy I work with has a family camp out there and let's us use it as long as we take care of everything. If you go into turtle bayou from the intracoastal and you take that right after running down turtle bayou, it's the first camp on the right by the opening to the pond

I don't believe so. I know he owns his own land there, now whether it's near the school board land or not, I don't know, because I'm not sure exactly where the school board land lines are at

In the next five years, everyone will see their leases go up. It is going to be only a rich man's sport.

But the thing they said is fighting water access legislation Blue, I think that is a misnomer. Because I am not sure it has cost anyone all that much on the land side. But the deal is, they are trying to come up with a deal for just fisherman that does not interfere with duck hunting. And they can take away the liability with the stroke of a pen.

Having spent time at a bunch of committee hearings at the Capitol, I know how these things work.

I'm sure CL&F made a few "donations" to "favorite charities" ensuring this legislation did not pass. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few legislators as lease holders in the coming years.

Bottom line, in their view, there is navigable water where there used to be marshland. If they owned the lat/long coordinates of the land before it eroded, should it still be considered theirs? I say, yes.

The fishermen are arguing that the fish in those waters are a natural resource which belong to the state. Therefore, the fish belong to everybody and they have the right to catch them. Couldn't agree more.

Using the same argument, ducks flying in the air and deer walking in the woods belong to everybody. But, you can't go stepping onto everybody else's property to shoot those ducks and deer.

Ducks and deer are free to move about the state and find refuge of less pressure, better food supplies and better habitat.....so are the fish.

I guess, because I always was taught that a navigable water way is like a highway, anyone can use it. If the river changed, you could use that new waterway. I can turn into a subdivision and drive in it, I can fix a flat pulling into it. I cannot go and play in somoene's yard though. I think they will have to come up with something, to be like the other 49 states. But also protect lease land for hunting. Or there will be no Sportsmans paradise.

Bayou Black Hunter, the camp WC is talking about is the first camp on Turtle Bayou after you turn off of the pipeline canal or school board canal whatever it is called.

Blue, so are y'all letting the lease go or looking for someone else to take it over or join into it? Just curious because I've been looking to get into a lease back there for years.

I’ve got an even better one for ya blue.
Just got word Monday that Castex is/has gone bankrupt and 45,000 acres of property that was leased out to a lot of people is no longer available to Lease. So tons of people are out of a Lease, and are out a lot of money because leases were just paid a couple months ago.. I am one of those people. Many people also have really expensive camps on leased land that they can no longer lease. It is a mess.

Word around here is that the property has already been bought and the new owner is not interested in leasing any of it. FUCK

That is a stunt to try and gain support to keep water ways closed. They are a terrible company

You guys need laws like we have up here in Minnesota--anything that can float a canoe is public. No one owns the water. Never heard of anyone up here that has to lease areas to hunt waterfowl (or fish).

I have access to millions of acres of water, marsh and land--only problem is now I can walk on a lot of that water and we're still supposed have two weeks of duck hunting :|

I’d consider paying if there were ducks around.

Our problem is that every asshole with a duck stamp is chasing the same3 ducks as everybody else.

i'll pay for a good lease every time over a public spot that will get over-run with mouthbreathing flatbills/poachers/unethical piece of sheet people.

lets face it, most folks parents should of aborted them.
