you might want to try a seperate raffle for the trip. A 20 dollar ticket. Your fishermen dont bat an eye at a 30,000 dollar bay rig but we shit ourselves when we see a 20,000 dollar mud rig. I think you would make more money. |

This is a stout drawing for sure. The live auction idea is a good one also. You bitches Will be dealing with me for sure. 100 20 dollar tickets = 2 grand......live auction will bring maybe 500 bucks if you are lucky....Ive run a lot of raffles and silent auctions at discgolf tournaments and found we made way more money on a 20 dollar raffle ticket than we ever made auctioning things......people tend to stop bidding when they could just outright buy the package however, more people tend to buy a ticket or more, spending up to 100 bucks a person on the chance to win a 600 dollar package than bidding up to or over the sale price of a product or service......food for thought.....if the intent is to raise money for a charity. |

I like the raffle idea with the fishing trip in a separate drawing. That way it levels the playing field for everyone, and people's bank roll isn't the deciding factor on who wins. I believe the guy that makes $30k a year & will never be able to afford a trip like this should get just as good a chance to win it as the guy that makes 6 figures and pisses away that much in a weekend anyhow. Bottom line for me, it is supposed to be about raising the most money possible. I'm no longer going to be an organizer for this event. I think it's gotten away from what it was originally intended to be. |

My comments were strictly from experience and with charity in mind.....ddm would you rather raise 2 grand on your sponsorship for charity or 500? ....... I know i couldnt go over 100 bucks on a bid, but i would or will likely spend it on raffle tickets, and would buy 1 or 2 of a special raffle ticket.......but with the intent to purchase raffle tickets where do i get involved in a bidding war? I dont, and will not be the only one willing to shell out that kinda dough with the other expenses involved but could afford 20 - 40 dollars. |

Jeff, while I appreciate your insight this is my 5th year running fundraising events. This event has the potential to grow and by giving back to the area we are painting our activities in a good light. As we have disclosed on the website we have a large list of $5 ticket items and have an item that is part of a $20 raffle. We have one live auction item... Why, because when I asked that sponsor I said it would generate the most money and I am standing by that. Frankly in my experience auctions brings 10x more money than a drawings ever thought of. Think of this event as a way to test the waters for the years to come. So, with that being said the mechanism that generates the most amount of money will be the one used for years to come. Will it be a $5 ticket, a $20 items or an auction. We'll find out February 16, 2013. |
