For Redfish you can't beat Joe's Taxidermy in Houma, 985-209-7338 , he also does a heck of a job on speckled trout, no doubt Billy Ollie is damn good, but he is better at waterfowl. Hope this helps |

The quality of replica's these days are truly amazing. I know and understand the feeling of having your fish but...... the molded in gills, flexible transparent fins and knowing you will NEVER have oily bleed-through makes them a great option. Lighter weight It cost a taxidermist way more to do a replica but the speed of getting mount done and out makes up for the loss. I have done many of both (skin/replica) mounts and saltwater fish in particular have better quality/longevity as a replica. If a replica I use should take a tumble, the repairs are minimal and easy. Just my view. |

I'm am worried about getting all the distinctive markings this Redfish has he has lots of very unique spots as well as being a nice bull. That I my biggest issue about doing a replica. Idk if I'm worried about nothing. |

Prolly worrying over nothing. A good taxi should be able to make a replica look just like the fist you pulled out of the water. Also a replica looks good forever. A skin mount will eventually start to deteriorate. |

Figured I’d resurrect this old thread instead of starting a new one. I’m looking to have a redfish mounted. Anyone know of someone around the Houma area that does excellent work? I’m Willing to travel a little for someone good. Last guy I used in Houma made my sons squirrel look like a rat on crack.. |
