Post Bird mounting
How you keep em from beating you with their wangs??

Really though, My boy killed his first duck season before last, and I need to get it mounted. The taxidermist I used for all mine has too long of a wait, he tries to do mostly deer now from what I hear. Who do yall recomend? Preferably someone around the Baton Rouge, Gonzales area

Post Re: Bird mounting
damn, but you have to send it to colorado...

Ive been saying for years that I was gonna open up a taxi shop and hire a bunch of illegals to do all the dirty work for me, and give a guaranteed 6 month turnaround. Dude, you could make a freakin killin!!! Very rarely fo I hear someone say "man this mount looks great, and it didnt take him no time!" Usually its "man this mount looks like chit, and it took him 2 years to do!"

The taxi that I used still has three ducks of mine. He's had them for almost two years now. He told me when I dropped them off that it would be three months, and that he wanted to get to where all he did was waterfowl.... what a crock!

well it depends on what type of duck it is and how valuable it is to you. there are three different types of bird taxidermy: wholesale, professional, and competition. with the major differences being the use of artifitial heads and feet. blomquist is one of the best taxidermists in se LA with alot of good competition work coming from him. to me id opt for a good wholesale taxidermist unless it's a bird of a lifetime. heres who i use: charlie alonzo. New orleans LA 504 255 0582

I RECOMMEND FINS TO FEATHERS, 160 FOR PROB A 4 MONTH WAIT OR 260 FOR A 30 DAY WAIT.

HE HAS A GUY THERE THAT DOES THE BIRDS AND HE IS AWSOME. STOP BY AND LOOK AT SOME OF HIS WORK.

Not anyone in particular, but some big name guys sub out alot of their work or have apprentices do it so you paying for name only. No way they have time to do them all and complete their comp mounts for shows. But its like anything else, if you like the work and can swallow the price its all good.
