Poor teal didn't stand a chance today... was able to kill most of our limit out of only 2 groups lol. Finished up with 30 ducks and 2 geese IMG_0612.JPGIMG_0616.JPG

The second split started off great with a lot of new birds our South La marsh. But they got wise to decoys and calls fast. Having to make adjustments hunt to hunt,but we are still scratching out some pretty good hunts

Thats alot of green...i can count on one hand how many mallards ive killed here in east Tx. I just dont understand how they work. They tripple any other species population but are non existent here. We kill plenty of everything else around here but everytime someone shoots a mallard its like hitting the lottery. Pretty wierd

Been very hit or miss in south/central Florida hunting in 80 and 90 degree weather. In the first picture my wife and I shot our 12 birds in about 40 minutes one afternoon. The turtles and the smaller gators get to them pretty quickly. The second picture is a quick afternoon snipe hunt.

Cold fromt wasn't anything i was expecting today other than cold...Right before shooting time i was telling the guy with me that I haven't shot a dang mallard in like 2 years and sure enough first bird that came in this morning was a big ole green head lol. He maple leafed all the way in, abd got smoked st about 15 yards. Then the geese started flying stupid low, like just high enough to not be flying through the reeds lol. Unfortunately though we were on the wrong side of the pond for them and only got a shot at one group. Killed two and sailed 2 more but they hit the ground running. We saw a decent amount this morning but i think the crazy wind and lack of people had em laid up pretty good

I'm sure they got smoked this morning. Like a fool I slept in. We worked them over good yesterday.

Had a decent hunt. It was fun for sure but not a crazy amount of ducks. Probably should have had a few more but we tried to let some ducks work. Had shooting time been about 10 minutes earlier it could have been a different story. They were lighting in the decoys....

It's been a year of bucket list birds and buckets full of great memories . It has been a season of being blessed , watching and enjoying Gods majesty. Great freinds that are like brothers , plus all the front row seats to unending sunrises . Personal success eclipsed by, watching my daughter make her first hunts and harvest her first bird . This morning I was blessed again, This pair of canvasbacks have eluded me for all my life. Special thanks to my hunting brothers that have helped and ribbed me thru the years, to make this happen.

Had a great time this morning as always Scott. Congrats on your divers and here's to having the pleasure of chasing plenty more birds with you in the future. We're going to do our straight best in the morning to make the diving duck number eclipse the 100 mark tomorrow. It's been a wild couple weeks on that hole.
