Don't know much about the JC Higgins pumps, but most of the people that I know that own their double barrels are pretty proud of them.

That 30-30 is classic. Worn look gives it a lot of character.

I've got a Stevens in 20 guage. Model 311. I really like it. The right barrel is full choke & shoots the tightest pattern that I've ever seen in an old gun like that.

Sorry bout your loss of your grandpa, but I'm sure those old guns connect you to some fond memories of him.

Sorry to hear about your Grandpaw. Don't know if you are planning on selling them, but if I could give you some advise, NEVER SELL A GUN especially hand me downs. Obama doesn't know you have them so he can't take them. Keep some oil on them and store them away.

I've got a hand-me-down winchester 30-30 that looks just like that...you wrote "side eject" but the side is where you load the bullets, it actually ejects out the top.

Yeah, but don't some eject more to the side and some hit you in the face?

The Winchesters ejected from the top which was a problem for scope mounting, and probably put the shell in your face at times. Along the way they developed an "angle eject" that helped both issues. Personally, I think a scope ruins the looks of a lever rifle anyway. But that's my personal opinion.

Marlin has always had a side eject.
