Do you guys prefer hand or foot control for bow fishing? I have a wireless #55, wondering if I should get a hand control instead before I mount it... |

i have a foot control and its difficult balancing yourself on the front deck with another person while holding your beverage and your bow... all while steering go with a hand control and possibly a hot button mounted on the deck <--my next boat |

OK....the beverage containment issue in your last post disturbs me just a little bit. Nobody wants to see a cold beer get spilled, unless it is in your mouth. I bow fish a pretty good bit and drink while doing it, so I'm going to let you in on my solution for beverage containment . Take you a foam koozie and punch you a two holes in the top of it on either side. Run a piece of string or small diameter rope through each side and tie the ends. Put your beer in the koozie and put the string around your neck, like a beer koozie necklace. You can bow fish and never have to put your beer down and it won't spill. For the record I run the wireless 55# and it is fine. |

i use to run a hand control tm while bowfishing it aggravated the shit out of me. I would stick to the wireless or a foot control. it is easier to get quick shots off when you have your hands on the bow and not the trolling motor. |

I wouldn't go buy a new one just for bowfishing. Use what ya got. Hand control is the only way to go and the higher the lb the better!!! |

i used to use a pd 55 and if you want to, you can make it into a tiller steer. put a split collar at the base to keep the turning motor from engaging, then use a split collar at the top, drill and tap it and screw you a handle into it. i used a piece of 2 foot, inch round plasic stock and a 5/16 stud. this way you can use it both ways. just have to keep you an allen wrench handy if you want to change depths. |

The koozie deal seems simple but it works. I got tired of having to bend down and pick up my beer. I know my post seems irrelevant to the subject line that "on call" started but my point is that the koozi deal will free up a hand to run a trolling motor if you want to run a tiller steer. |

Google it.... beer koozie necklace..... they market them to kayakers. I bought one on a kayak trip a couple years back. |

don't know why in the world anyone would pay money for something that is simple to make. Also....I would hate to drink beer while kayaking. |

i have fished out of a boat with foot controls and mine that has a hand tiller. i like mine far more than the foot control. after a long night of drinking and fishing, trying to balance on the deck of a boat aint fun. |

been using hand controls for years but u can make a stick steer out of a foot control then it steers like a airboat just add a foot switch they both work great and my uncle uses a wireless he likes it to they all work just pick wut fits u best or use wut u have |
