 Re: Versa-Max
I have always been a loyal remington fan and hope to always be. They need a good gun to re-establish themselves in the market. Guns are just like these MMs. They can all break at some point. I finally had a ejector break in my 11-87 last year. That was an instant fix as I always carry a parts kit from Brownells for my guns. Aside from that I have never had any issues with any of my Remington shotguns or rifles and I have more than my share. I don't shoot 3 1/2" though and only have one in a 870SM which I bought to shoot 3 1/2" 00B when running dogs on deer hunts. Contrary to what some would have you think I have personally seen a couple Benellis go down.

 Re: Versa-Max
Remington better have this one right. Not just from a design standpoint but a quality control issue. Talk to a gunsmith about the QC on the 700 actions over the last few years. Same with the 1187s and the new 887 pump. The design seems simple enough, but I'm tired of companies having their customers do their R&D work.

 Re: Versa-Max
I haven't bought any new long guns in recent years from remington. I have a couple 11-87 SPS 3" guns that have been pretty flawless. The newest is about 8 years old. They forked up and went for a cheaper line with the sportsman models and then never reduced the price. The 105 was a epic fail. That 887 sounds like a clunker from the shows I have seen where it was used but I have never handled or fired one. The 1100/11-87 is a great design. The weight and reliability in 3 1/2" were big detractors as well as more modern things such a magazine disconnect and adjustable LOP. This gun may be the ticket although it will always be know as a B-gun copy I'm sure by those in the other camps.

 Re: Versa-Max
Poker, you're right on. Only problem with the 11-87 is that they don't float worth a shit.
