man hese refuges rules are getting on my nerves, im ready to just say f*** louisiana and hunt only in tx this year. how are you supposed to hunt sabine, when you cant take a boat out of the main canals? i guess youve gotta walk som, but whats the point in owning all that land, and being allowed to hunt all that land, when you gotta wade all of it?

from what i know you can paddle in... just cannot have a power unless it is trolling motor driven... you cannot drag a boat over the bank but you can lift it and carry it over... small kayaks are the way to go in the refuges

"Boats may not be dragged across levees. Outboard motors
and go-devil type or air cooled motors may be operated
only in designated refuge canals, bayous, and boat trails.
Operation of any outboard or air cooled motor in the refuge
marshes is prohibited. Operation of trolling motors is
permitted"

I live here and have co-workers that hunt it... they do fairly good... teal season is fun at Sabine NWR from what i hear...

i guess thats all i really need sabine for is for teal season. its not looking very promising for duck season anyway. i feel pretty depressed about hunting down here now, i thought it was gonna be a lot better than this. i never wanna have to join a lease

Come on up here and hunt our refuges... Just dont get caught... We can only hope for the day they let us wade in and hunt..... We have our share of them and they sure wont let you hunt on um... But they did build some nice observation towers so we can go look at the thousands of birds they hold during season... Makes me nervous to ride thru the d@mn things after a day of hunting with my shot gun in the truck...

uhhhhh..... tha dam feds might be the problem....

the reason i said i may only need it for teal season(and im saying this before ive done all my scouting) is because i think/hoping to god that i may have another spot thatll hold mallards
i suppose i need to throw on the trolling motor and do more scouting before i complain again though. i dont wanna be that jackass cyberscouter if i havent already

S. LA it gets hard to get greenheads in so dont hold up your hopes.... these marshes down here are mottle and grey duck heaven... pintail are normally seen later in the winter but usually do come down in numbers... find a honey hole and you will get some green... last year we had a few good weekends of green and were happy to bring home our limit of green... and of course a pintail and some greys to finish out the limit
