 Duck hunts around Ft. Riley in Kansas.
Got a buddy that is stationed up there, im goin up for a weekend around november/ late Oct. and again in Jan/Feb. Anyone hunted up that direction? Hopefully it will be a good time.

It's good tumbleweed hunting. I'd go with a 2 3/4 low brass 7.5 or 8 shot. I have had the best results with a bic and hairspray.

that figures. Never been up there before. At least it will be cheap. (gas and license is all it's gonna cost me)

If you can get on a stock pond you will kill ducks. There's not an over abundance of water up there but I have seen quite a few ducks... I cant remember what part of the season it was.

I was stationed at Fort Riley once... that time of year will be tough to kill anything other than wood ducks, teal, and widgeons. Later in the season Milford Reservior can get really good and field hunting isn't bad either if you can find the X.
I would try hunt small ponds or even some of the backwater of the creeks until December. Once December arrives, its on and you could find some good hunting through the rest of the season. If you have a boat (Iassume you do, cause you're on here) there are a LOT of small reserviors within 2 hours that you can hunt with almost no company in Dec and Jan.

i know there is some damn good bow hunting up there. i hunted public up there and seen alot of really nice dear (120's - 150's) . but i did see a few groups of ducks the time i was there but it wasnt many and i was there 7 days
