Ive never owned a pistol before just the shotguns. Im looking for a pistol to use at the range, take hunting and self defense. The guns that I have been looking at is the Glock .45, M&P .45, or a Springfield XDm .40 I really like the new XDm .40, they dont have a .45 yet, and I am torn between waiting to see if they come out with a .45 or jump the gun and sack up for the .40 http://www.the-m-factor.com/ Any of you guys have sum suggestions? |

I like Glocks personally. Got a 9 & a 40, no 45. Lotta guys on here seem to like the Springfield. Never shot one, but I'm sure they're fine weapons. Probably won't go wrong with either brand. |

I have a Glock Model 22 40 cal (old style); like it a lot. Bought a Springfield XD-45 (not the "M")last year. Feels much better in my hand; (small hands); points better than my glock. Always had to make minor grip adjustments on glock, not so with XD. Also, the fact that I can stuff 13rds +1 of 45 acp makes me smile ![]() If I had to do it all over again, the XD would be my choice. |

I got a Glock 23 (.40) my next will probably be a XDm, but Ive had a bad experience with a grip safety before, and will never trust my life to a gun with a grip safety if given the choice. Just my opinion, but the XDm is a damn fine gun |

Got the M&P 40 and the 45. The feel of my 40 is a lot sweeter than the 45. Love that gun! |

Of thoes 3, if i were you i'd go with a glock 30 in 45 auto. I have the XD as well, but of my auto's i shoot my 1911 style Kimber's there a little pricey but worth it (in my opinion). |

The Glock .45GAP (not sure the model) is nice too. Its a .45 in the 9mm/.40cal frame size. Not sure how hard ammo will be to get now though. Its getting hard to find ammo for my .40! |

i had a 45 gap, cool idea but ammo is TUFF to find 2 years ago, now its all but gone. glad i dumped mine when i did. |

Also, on the glock 45, the grip is too big for my hands (small hands). so if you're average or smaller hand size, then you will have trouble with the glock 45; jmo |

Don't they make a 36 SF that is a smaller frame? |

Short Frame, its easier to get your hand around the grip. That was the point of the .45GAP also, its shorter than the .45 ACP, but like I said, ammo may be a issue. Check the SF out |

i like my glock 9mm, but it don't feel as nostalgic as my colt gov model 45acp does. either one rides around in the prodrive all season long and looks like it did when it went in there. probly going order a judge next week. ![]() |

I've got a Taurus .44 that I've hunted with for years... I've been very happy with it, and very happy with the fact that I didn't spend $500 more for a Smith&Wesson. As far as auto guns... I've heard some pretty good things about those XD guns. But it's hard to beat a good ole' 1911. ![]() |

Springfield XD-40 here. I love the feel of the grip. THere is also the XDM-40 but it cost a few dollas more. I dont shoot enought to justify the M but best best is to go shoot your buddies guns and get one that you fell confortable shooting. |

xd 40 has a double safety feature, glocks dont have a safety unless they changed the design. shot glock and xd and bought the xd. jmo |

Only safetys that matter are the one you keep your LSU ball cap on, and the long skinny one on your peter beater. F a safety, dont pull it till you ready to shoot it, dont point it at anything you dont intend to kill. I know a lot of people have been accidently killed by "unloaded" guns that "just went off" but never heard of a case of someone being hurt/killed by a gun pointing somewhere other than at them. Think about it, way back when revolvers ruled the roost, they didnt have safetys, and they still dont |
